    Greetings fellow road warriors.

    The goal of this thread is to give experienced drivers whom are interested in Holland a real time look at load assignments and how they’re issued. Holland is about 90% direct customer freight. So brokered loads are little to none.

    Be advised, I will only be posting my load assignments as they are issued and the times associated with the pick-up and the delivery dates. Also, I will NOT post the customers we haul for due to privacy concerns. However, that being said, we do NOT pick up any meat, chicken, or produce loads, ever…

    Moreover, I am not starting this thread for any referrals, in fact, I wont even provide my driver code If asked.

    I find it really disturbing that there’s thousands of videos on YouTube that all start out with “ it’s your boy, and my driver code such-and -such.” I’m sure the experienced drivers know exactly what company I am referring to.

    A few more points before we get started. I will not discuss any compensation, equipment or anything that doesn’t pertain strictly to the actual transportation of the commodities on Holland’s line haul. There is already a lot of intel about those topics on the forum, and talking about anything pertaining to the aforementioned items would just be redundant.

    Lastly, - Some information about myself. I’m 49yrs old and I’ve been driving for Holland since May 2024, and have combined commercial experience of 12yrs. And I’m a retiree of the United States Coast Guard.

    Ok, with all that said, I will start off by posting a few past loads and up to the current load I am on now to get us started.

    Pick up location, date and time — 7/25/25 @ 2000 in Bartow, FL with a two stop load.

    Delivery location, date and time (1st drop) — 7/31/2025 @ 0600 in Portland, OR

    Delivery location, date and time (2nd drop) — 7/31/2025 @ 1300 in Sumner, WA

    Total paid loaded miles for trip — 3233, with extra stop pay. Also 56 empty miles to the pick up.

    Pick up location, date and time — 08/01/2025 @ 0800 in Richland, WA

    Delivery location, date and time — 08/04/2025 @ 0830 in Plymouth, MN

    Total paid loaded miles for trip — 1524, with an additional 203 empty miles to pick up.

    Pick up location, date and time — 08/04/2025 @ 1130 in White Bear Lake, MN

    Delivery location, date and time — 08/08/2025 @ 0600 in Sumner, WA

    Total paid loaded miles for trip — 1676, with an additional 26 empty miles to pick up.

    Delivery location, date and time — 08/11/ 2025 @ 0830 in Plymouth, MN

    Total paid miles for trip — 1524 with an additional 203 empty miles to pick up.

    I will update as I go along. However, you should already get a sense about how we run at Holland. If you can manage your clock, and are willing to run, you can easily knock out 3500 miles a week (7 days)

    I can speak from experience that Holland isn’t the place for a “casual” driver as they wont last long.

    Another good thing about Holland which I think is pretty unique for being an irregular route OTR carrier is that we see a lot of the same customers often.

    **** if I don’t don’t update for a couple of days, doesn’t mean I’ve quit, or disappeared.. I see that a lot on this platform.

    Also feel free to ask any questions. Holland isn’t perfect, and I’m not a perfect driver. Holland and I are a good fit for my driving style and their size. You’re known when you go to the terminal.

    However, you need to build those relationships with the office folks. I’ve always found everyone very professional. All you have to do is communicate your needs or concerns and I can promise you, that your questions will be answered and your concerns addressed .. You reap what you sow.

    Probably my main putoff with Holland is that they want you to refuel only at a Love's.

    Been there, done that.

    It produced issues.

    Do they allow resets, or do they work you off recaps? With the miles you run, you can burn through your 70 in 5.5 days. After all my years out here, I’d much rather reset than rinse and repeat. Plus, at my age, a reset every week is beneficial. Don’t get me wrong, but working off a reset eliminates those short days which become unproductive.

    We run recaps. You can request a 34 anytime however and they’ll schedule the load timing accordingly.

    I typically start getting burnt out running recaps at around the 6–7 week mark. And I agree — things start to get counterproductive. I can definitely tell I’m Catching my limit because my tolerance for the idiots out here gets more and more limited as the weeks go by haha

    I pretty much know what customers you’ve been to so far. You will definitely get the miles, provided you’re willing to work with them to get them.

    Also don’t be afraid to do the occasional favor for dispatch. They’ve always returned them when I worked there.

    EG: L needed me to load in La Porte, TX for her, going to Tacoma. She knew that was my bread and butter run, but needed it for a Dallas driver who had to get home.

    I loaded it and took it him at Garland. Grabbed his load from there coming up here to NoDak.

    NoDak dispatch sent me right back to Houston and I got the Tacoma reload the next week.

    Moral of the story is: When you do them a solid, they WILL repay you for it. Might take a week or two, but you will eventually get it back.

    I was there for nearly 6 years

    From 2013 to 2019.
    Never had any REAL issues or complaints.

    #### that was a while ago.
    Haven't posted much since.

    Awesome thread! I loved doing OTR reefer back in 2000-2005, and if I ever give up my current local gig, I will definitely be getting in touch with Holland. Thanks for posting this, it gives us local guys who still yearn for the open road a chance to live vicariously through this.
