Is Pilot Flying J a good entry level fuel hauling job?

Unfortunately I’m waiting for a new copy of my birth certificate to arrive in the mail (lost my old one in a house fire) so I can do the background check and get my hazmat again. I previously had it but didn’t renew it, but I still have the tanker. There’s an ad on Indeed for a fuel transport driver with the pay ranging from $23.50-26.50 hourly. Everyone on here will tell me that that’s low, but it’s STILL more than what I’m currently earning, and it should be good experience as well.

Does anyone know if they pay OT after 40 hours, as the ad doesn’t mention it? And about how many hours do drivers average weekly? The answers may mostly if not entirely depend on the terminal, but perhaps others experience would give me a ballpark estimate. It can be difficult to get on hauling fuel in the south where I live, as I’ve heard a lot of drivers who have years of experience hauling fuel up north move down and usually get the job when there’s an opening. But with the pay being that low, no one with experience may want to apply and I may get it instead. As soon as my hazmat is renewed I plan to apply if the job is still open.

    Hark! Am I being paged?.....

Yes, Pilot will pay overtime after 40 hrs.

The work is very likely to be steady -- as your main clientele are truckstops -- instead of mom-n-pop convenience stores.

Expect a workweek of at least 60 hours, in most markets.

Your biggest problem will simply be getting hired.

It's likely that your application will be among many in the stack.

Another way to get ahead and this isnt just for Flying J but anything really like Loves I know multiple drivers who one went to loves as a Flat bed driver and fuel drivers one was a pilot truck stop who got put ahead. But essentially its more who you know too. One my buddies got real close buds with one the managers at one of the store and when a spot became available even when he zero fuel hauling experience, he got put in top spot to be picked landed said job loves it. You would be surprised how a few small conversations every day can play a key role in getting a spot...

You know who does have those answers about Pilot-Flying J, other PFJ tanker drivers. Wherever you may get hired they have a boss. That boss has other drivers doing what you will do. Ask Pilot to pass along your info to that boss and those drivers so you can ask them questions. Then ask them to describe what you want to know. DO NOT tell them what you hope will happen if you are hired. Ask them to describe their pay last week, the schedule last week, the OT pay, detention pay or whatever you want to know. This forum is NOT THE PLACE where every working truck driver reports in frequently.

I was at Pilot. Definitely a decent place to work and get your experience and loading rack cards. Yes OT after 40. Hours will vary upon region but youre going to be working over 50 on a regular basis.

May I ask what region or area you were hired on and were they willing to train those with no prior fuel experience?

WY. They train people with no experience constantly. In fact my former crew has been hiring since I left a year ago because they cant get anyone to stay. People will try it out for a few days then just quit. Here's the job posting, they're even offering a 3k signing bonus hahahaha!

They hired someone from California last year whos still there so they dont have the stigma against those needing to relocate. They begged me and a former coworker of mine they fired (for a petty reason) to come back and we both said kick rocks lol.

Most of the time I see a Gemini or PFJ fuel truck they're in a day cab, but once in a while I see one with a sleeper.

Do they have some kind of regional fuel runs or something? I can't imagine there'd be a need to run fuel OTR.
