I honestly can't, it would cause too much of a drop in pay which would mean I can't get the flying fornication out of here as soon as I would like.Last edited: Sep 29, 2025

Im looking about 32/33k for the quarter. I took a week off in September and 5days off in July.
Ok I can grant a lot of the issues, but wth are you doing that you cant afford a week/10days off? And that $80k isn't enough for you and your wife? Assuming shes not working. Like no offense, but thats on you. Well, kinda, but this isn't the place to get into that. I get wanting to run hard and maximizing your pay but you're acting like you're being starved out.ElmerFudpucker, hope not dumb twucker, Knucklehead and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lots of drivers look to much at the immediate pay and not the long term...hope not dumb twucker, drvrtech77 and brian991219 Thank this.

80k gross isn't good pay these days. After taxes, insurance and my road allowance, that's less than $950/net. That's netting $3800/month Filling the wife's gas tank takes $50-60 a week of that alone. Take out the mortgage, insurance (both car and house), electric, cell service, life insurance, food and some credit cards. After all that, there isn't a lot left for savings. My biggest gripe is they let me get ahead a little, then they stagnate me so I end up using what little I managed to save to make up for the drop in pay. Then if I take a whole week off, that puts me -$160 extra out of the next check (health insurance deductions don't stop when you're off). I was grossing $80k 10 years ago. With today's inflation, an experienced OTR driver that's willing to turn miles should be at least $90k.Sons Hero, Friend, hope not dumb twucker and 5 others Thank this.

Is your wife able to work and help take the burden off you? Like even something part time to cover gas and some utilities. The reality now adays is a single income household is almost impossible.hope not dumb twucker, Speedy356, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.
