Every reputable LTL linehaul driver should make a minimum of 6 digits and be home every night. The absolute best move I ever made was going from the OTR world into the LTL side of trucking. I started dragging wiggle wagons 12yrs ago and should've done it back in the 90's when I first started driving.

Are you on any kind of dedicated or on a regional fleet?

Closest LTL company around my area is 70ish miles from me (one way). No way I would drive 140 miles round trip every day just to do local.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Depending on the LTL Company you could look at being a system driver for them, its Linehaul but you are home weekends instead of nightly, or home 2 days in a row at least each week.

Darn...I was hoping that they were doing some real world testing on a dedicated fleet.

it wouldn't benefit me. The housing market is so over priced that buying a house elsewhere would pretty much eat up any increase in income, even rent is way higher than what I am paying for my current place. Besides, we live within 10 min of both kids and all our grandkids. If we moved, then my wife wouldn't get to see them either. At least now, they have 2 grandmas around to spoil them.

BoostedTeg, Long FLD and Trucker61016 Thank this.

The recruiter called me today and we had about a 30 min conversation. He said they currently don't have anything open there, but he did say he is forwarding my file to Hartwell because he really likes not only what he sees on my app, but likes what he heard during our chat. He said keep my app refreshed monthly because they purge old applications every 30 days.

That’s why I asked, I was just curious. I wouldn’t move away from that either.
