Not only is he in a tough spot, but your mom and you and the rest of your family. There's going to be things that come along that's going to tug on your heart strings, but keep your dad in mind because he's the one going through it. I know when my wife went through her battle with cancer, I shed more than one tear that she never saw. She beat it though, and after 13 years I've still got her so hopefully in 13 years you will say the same.

You are absolutely right. As crummy as I feel, he is still the one having to really take the journey. All I can do is be calm, and strong. I keep my emotions in check, a pity party doesn’t do anyone any good.

Ya know, it appears more "stuff" has been junked/abandoned in the woods up there than some areas have ever possessed. Just an observation on surplus....

Lol, there’s 2 early 70’s Ford F880’s setting here, 477 / 5x4, old block yard trucks. Early 70’s? Case 580 CK, Case 310 with 4 way blade, Case 350 with the wide 24” tracks and 6 way blade, 3 point hitch and pto. Remains of an early 60’s? Case enloader. Plows, disc, bush hog, pig pole, 3 point auger, drag style bush hog, my 3 tractors, then in the barn is a John Deere 1010 utility, Case VA wide front, and a couple little side by sides, and a small Economy tractor. The 2 Yellow Sea containers have side by sides stored in them that haven’t seen sunlight in probably 10 years. Dad use to live in the old house when I was 4-5 years old. Years later his brother raised his family in the old house. Dad’s tractor was part of this and another farm when he was a teenager. Yea they a few things setting around here lol. Just to the right out of the screen is a dug well, somewhere at dads there is a picture of me standing beside it when I was 5 years old….

I believe that to be true, ligaments do stretch out a bit and don’t really go back. My right knee now dislocates with out too much pressure in any rotation type movement. Usually a slip on ice will do it. It snaps right back, but it’s painful as can be when it happens. All the best for your Pops and family

Prolly true, to the extent each occurrence stretches/weakens/distorts the various tendons and tissue.

I think we’ve all been in a somewhat similar position - variations of.

“Stuff it down and pour alcohol on top of it, and then randomly scream at a kid for no good reason 5 years later” - (A rough Bill Burr iteration).

I paste my black mold on here occasionally just to let it out in the campfire setting that I feel I’m a part of.

Give your Dad a hug for me - tell him some dumb Kiwi gives his best wishes and strength.

Stick it in a bucket of ice water, drink 1 quart of moonshine(at least 150 proof). If that don't help drink more then you won't care. God bless

Strange how that lumber/board siding has held up. Is it some specie grown and used up there like we use yellow pine. Last 20/30 years here, pine used for that and left sitting would have decayed. Some; 10 x 10 used in center line of a large barn is still like day sawed. Mostly sap lumber now, heart pine gone...
