I rook a loaded trailer to a warehouse. Then bobtailed back to the yard. Can this bobtail be used as personal conveyance?

Yes as long as you didnt go back to the yard to get a load you are preplanned on or some other work related duty.

My 8 hours of driving were up and I needed a 30 min break. I went into PC and didn't take the break. Bobtailed to the yard where I start and finish work. I was done with work after I bobtailed back to yard

No. From the FMCSA:
May a driver, who drops his or her last load at a receiver’s facility use personal conveyance to return to their normal work location (i.e. home or terminal?)
No. Returning home or to the terminal from a dispatched trip is a continuation of the trip, and therefore cannot be considered personal conveyance

That , not being allowed to go to the yard, is such a b.s. rule. I was down to 20 minutes on my 70 in El Paso, and I was told I'd have to go to the loves ( which was full) rather than our yard ( which is 2 miles from the loves . Who makes these assine rules.Bean Jr., cke, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.

I agree... No.

No.
And I agree it's a BS rule. My home is deemed my terminal, so using PC to get home would be a 'continuation'.
I almost never use PC unless I'm out on the road doing a reset and need to go shopping, eat , laundry. -
Well I stand corrected..I never considered using pc to go back to the yard but I can certainly understand the frustration being low on hours.
