Harrisonville just outgrew itself. That whole dirt area where they're putting trailers now used to be all grass with a small dirt road that ran alongside the building a few years ago. Once they ran out of room in the main lot they decided that real estate was going to waste and started parking trailers there.

Gassing up the car and about to hit the road on this rainy Saturday for my 2 week stay in Michigan. Going into the UP through the back door by way of Sioux City and Minneapolis. Driving due north on 81 for a few hours before meandering my way east
Knucklehead, Friend and hotrod1653 Thank this. -
Made it from Eugene, Oregon to Stuart, Iowa. Have a 0730 appointment in Des Moines, get here shut the truck off, go to start the truck and nothing. Battery voltage is fine, could be the starter, waiting for road service to come and access the situation. The starters on these Cummins are a PIA to change in a parking lot. If it is the starter I'm going to just have them pull start me and get our shop to replace it tomorrow.
Gotta look on the bright side, at least it happened back in civilization instead of in the middle of Wyoming somewhere.Last edited: Oct 26, 2025

I once had a bad starter on a KW I owned that I didn't replace for almost a month and a half. If I shut it down, I just made sure I was parked on a slight hill, so I could release the brakes and roll start it.Knucklehead, MidWest_MacDaddy, rokue and 2 others Thank this.

They definitely are a pia to change, and sometimes tap. I had a driver pull start me with his bob tail once, (I was bob tail) I didn’t shut that truck off until I got it back to Wichita and in a shop bay at Bruenger.
Boss man yelled about the fuel mileage dropping, but then realized how much of a tow and shop bill i saved him. I tried to pay the driver who pull started me $50 but he wouldn’t hear of it. Miss those days.Knucklehead, rokue, Friend and 5 others Thank this. -
Yeah, those days are a few and far between anymore… Hell, I remember 20 plus years ago when I started I broke down on the interstate south of Dallas late at night. I had several drivers stop in the middle of the night and come knock on the truck and ask if I was OK… Are you sure you don’t see that good deed anymorencmickey and hotrod1653 Thank this.

No you sure don’t. The last few times I broke down I can count the number of times I was asked if I was okay or someone stopped and asked if they could help me fix whatever was wrong.
I make it a point to at least ask if a driver is okay, and will sometimes pull up and help if they aren’t.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -

Towed to the dealer in Altoona this morning, just pulled the truck in the service bay. The service writer thinks it could get done today. I guess we’ll see, I’m expecting to have to get a hotel but maybe they will surprise me.
Friend, rokue and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
feels great to be able to drive on an interstate for a reasonable distance and not have to deal with the white Volvo mafia, Chicago special Freightliners, or the Amazon brigade
Goody3635, Friend, 48Packard and 1 other person Thank this.
