That will be the end of parking a truck at that hotel. Was probably a regular hotel for that company/driver too.

Give it 24 hours before the first lawsuits are filed!

To me that's pretty irresponsible. I would have thought they'd have a local drop location well away from population, and then bobtail to the motel.

I'm sure they'll be a few changes in policies, and local ordinance, and . . .lawsuits.

The nice thing about hauling that stuff is if it leaks, you're dead. Can anyone say early retirement?

Wonder what failed on the trailer to cause it to leak that fast.

Article says a valve or seal failed.
Either way,it’s gonna cost the trucking company dearly!
They’re lucky nobody died in the incident, but some folks came REAL CLOSE!

Correct, but there are multiple failsafes built into the trailers. Valves rest in the closed position and need to be charged with air to be operational. If the Dixie gate and everything is closed there wouldn’t be any air going to valves. So I wonder what exactly failed to cause it.

Well that’s what probably did it.
    You answered your own question.
With that truck shut down there probably wasn’t any air to keep things in check, and the air pressure probably dropped to a point where a valve released or something else.
Someone did report hearing a faint “pop” before the ammonia cloud developed.

    Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
