Medical card question

Well after 23 years of driving it happened. Went to get my physical and got hit with a 3 month card due to “high normal” BP. First non 2 year cert ever.

He gave me some forms for my doctor to fill out. I went to the Doctor and got a med which has put my BP smack dab where it needs to be. I’ll go back to DOT doc between Christmas and New Years.

I asked the guy “once I’m downgraded, I can never go back to a two year, correct?” He said no, you work with your doctor, bring the documentation back and I’ll issue you a two year.

I think I might have heard that wrong because I was in such a daze during the whole visit due to being downgraded.

Can you go back to a two year cert after being downgraded? I was told by other drivers over the years it’s a one year max after receiving a 3 month, 6 month or one year cert. I appreciate any info, seemed like my world was ending that day but within a few hours I realized it wasn’t as bad as I made it out to be.

 

Great! Thank you, that’s more in line with what I thought I heard the Doctor state. It was a wake up call for sure and possibly life saving. I know high BP can cause havoc if left alone.
