Anyone rolling in a 589 yet?

Insurance primarily follows the vehicle and not the driver. Why not able to get anything from the policy on the car?

 

Wow, on a double yellow too. I sure hate this happened to you, I’m always thankful anymore every time I make it home unscathed, so many with that mindset who don’t pay attention….

 

I’ve been in a 589 since late July. Just under 40k miles.
240” wb, day cab short hood on regular 22.5, 565/1850, 18sp , 46 rears.

I’ve been in 5-388/389 day cabs over the last 14 yrs. All spec’d the same other than the priors were all on 24.5 and last couple were mx13 510, pulling quad axles buckets.
I don’t love the truck but I also don’t hate it.
I always soften the cab leveling valve all the way. My last 389 rode really well I felt all things considered. Givensome others reviews I’d gotten I expected this to be on par or slightly better. I’d say it’s slightly worse, but maybe that’s a 22.5 thing? This is the first truck I’ve driven with them.

I feel the blind spots are worse on this truck. No cheater window in passenger door took some getting use to.
The passenger side mirror is a huge blind spot now. I’ve had a few close calls where I’ve been pulling out somewhere and a car has been hidden behind the mirror as I get rolling.

I don’t care for either the dash being higher and/or the seat sets lower in the cab than the 389.
I’ve got a gramag seat and the lower foam on the seat back is pushed way out (w/no air in lumbar)and doesn’t allow me sit back and relax while driving. I’ve sat in others with this seat and they are better. I’d still rather have the Sears seat.

Whoever designed the center panel of the dash to be flat instead of angled towards the driver is an idiot. Along with that, the way the lights switch are laid out. The dimmer is by itself to the right of the steering wheel with all the other lights switches to the left. All the switches are backlit except for the headlight knob.
It certainly is quieter in terms of wind and road noise I feel. Although the stock visor sometimes sounds and looks like it’s about to rip off (above 70mph mainly)
I’m 6’1-6’2 and I do have more leg room than I ever had in the old cab.
I like the addition of up/down adjustability to the mirrors.
I do like this wider cab. There’s more room but it’s not so big like a 4900/49x.

All in all I wouldn’t give the truck up, I just expected a bit more. Also coming from a couple mx13, this x15 is a beast. I’ll stay in this just for that.

 

Yea, air trac on the rears. The air assist clutch hanging down is so effortless to push, that is definitely a plus.
There should be a noticeable increase in leg room coming from a w9

 

I keep my old t660. I’ll go out about once a month start it and move it around. Got 3 acres there. Just keep it moving. I have tanks filed and I add the polor power/fuel treatment. International sat for over a year. I moved it about once a month. I unhook batteries and just tighten them up when I start it, move it. Hand tighten and let it run several hours.

I have it insured on my commercial insurance policy as a “spare” so it can be driven occasionally whenever. I’m insured to drive it. I keep it tagged.

 

If its anything like when that moron ran a red into my rig. They are either under or uninsured. I know i had to eat a lot of costs to my 579 as well as a ton of legal fees when they sued me in multiple states afterwards trying to claim i was at fault dispite video proof they were on a #### phone and ran a red.
