I regularly talk to a few people at the company I retired from. They have slowed down as well since one customer with two facilities shut down. They receive around $320.00 just to come to work. They say that most driver's work between 8-10 hours per day so it's between $320-$440 per day. They did have a delivery on Sunday which requires two people. A little over $700.00 to each of them for nine hours of work. I do miss those weekend deliveries.

The bottom line is the reduction consumer spending. All the other reasons are not important. Reduced consumer spending = reduced truck demand = reduced hiring. Some companies have the right customers and can still at least keep drivers earning a decent check.

So many loads they can’t find enough trucks to move them all.
But I will admit the business model has some snags and they don’t pay quite enough to compensate for it. And there is some work involved on the delivery end often in hot or cold weather. It ain’t just opening the doors and backing up to a dock. More like a flat bedding job so that will keep some away and drive turnover for the ones that do show up.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Doesn't CRST have a 4300 truck fleet?

You are going to see less truckloads also with more efficiency in the logistics. Every trailer will be loaded to capacity no more partial loads. -
