That looks oddly familiar. I swear I've seen that house before in pretty much this same circumstance.
Really a testament to the strength of that flange ring. All those bridges and it looks fine.

No reason why not - and I would have - run a chain on the base , through the holes at the base, side to side - to simply restrict roll off. Not much can be done at the tail end.
Then 6 straps minimum. Nailed chocks.Hammer166, drvrtech77 and TurkeyCreekJackJohnson Thank this. -
2 in 10 is only company rules for drivers who can't understand nuance. If you tell them that they'll more likely put the right number on but it's not a law. Aside from that I'd be nervous with any load shaped like a wedge where movement from braking would LOOSEN the straps. I'm sure there's reasons for it. I just don't like it.Toomanybikes and blairandgretchen Thank this.

Looks like retired Melton truck. Those base poles are heavier than you think, that’s some thick aluminum on that ring. Probably 32k range & most of weight on that ring, These 1099 outfits need stfd
blairandgretchen and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
I always assumed these were galvanized steel.

Yeah - you're right, for forward movement, chain the base of the pole at the front of the trailer at 30 degrees front and back. Strap 6 or more over the rest.
These are galvanized steel. I forget the name of the place in Tulsa, I quit hauling it when durka durkas hauled it for a lot less . . . 10 years ago.
It's a moot conversation at this point. Driver has no clue - owner doesn't care. Public at risk.hope not dumb twucker, Toomanybikes, Flat Earth Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Looks like a villain who went after Denzel Washington's character.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

You forgot “asylum seekers”.hope not dumb twucker, drvrtech77, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this.

Youed be suprised. Ive hauled cut up scrapped poles like that before. That flange is no joke and is way thicker heavier and beefier in every way then that photo indicates. Hell i picked a chunk out of my trailer once that got caught on one of my interior steps, the chunk looked small maybe the size of my arm. but it bloody weighed nearly 50 pounds.
In a complete ring like that, its going to have an insane amount of heft to it. Never hauled an intact pole to be fair. But 1 and some bits of a second is nearly a 46,000 pound load in my trailer.Hammer166, nikmirbre and drvrtech77 Thank this.
