This is crazy... I have more lights than that but hopefully it's nothing too serious. Sounds like they need to give you another truck.

Ooooof... Well good luck. I'm also gonna get out of that Bynum truck soon too, not to go into another truck, but to GTFO of trucking in general LMFAO!!! Right now I'm at a shipper in Atlanta with my load that I waiting for about 7 hours for yesterday, and now at 5 AM, I want to get the out of here but I can't cause my battery is dead, that's like the 3-4 times that I had to called dispatch for a jump... I've done enough time, it's time to move on, screw trucking. Sorry for the small rant lol.

That's really sad to hear. I just think that you're at the wrong company. Please stop chasing miles and then working for free. You need to find a good company that pays by the hour. I spent 30 years at a Teamster union company and retired on 4/1/24 at the age of 60. I have a good pension as well as retiree medical. There are still good companies out there. OTR isn't where it's at in my opinion. There's nothing like being home every day.

Nice man, yeah, might be OTR, but I think I just need to get back to a regular job, which trucking isn't. I'm still gonna keep my CDL though just in case if I can. The funny thing is I originally was drawn to trucking because of how much alone time you have and I like being alone so I liked that about trucking but I think it's time to move on now, going back to tech.

Go look at your gross pay at the end of the year. Divide that by 52 weeks. Now divide that by 70 (hours worked per week). That's your wage with zero overtime. Now ask yourself if working a normal 40 hour per week job at home and 30 hours extra per week doing gig work in any decent sized city can't gross you the same exact pay.

Chances are, your hourly wage for OTR trucking is in the low to mid 20's for giving up your life for the truck.

OTR trucking should not be a penny below $100,000 gross per year with 6 days or less off per month and running out your 70 every 8 days on weeks that you worked. There's a reason why these companies have 100% turnover rate. The current OTR pay (which is well below 100k for 95% of OTR drivers) is absolutely terrible for giving up your life to trucking, which is what OTR drivers have to do.

OTR is in serious need of reform, the system is broken.

That's not the point. The point is that truck drivers don't make as much as they should for the amount of work they do. Look at truck driver wages in the 70s and 80s and compare them to now. Considering inflation, we're making less now than they did back then.

If the truck is your home then you don't work a minute of the day.
