Schuster trucks are weird, or the drivers just don't know how to drive. Passed one on 36 and he was only doing 65. He passed me on 35 later going 70+

They have that speed software where they can only go 3 or 5 over the speed limit. So they vary depending on the road they are on.Friend, cdavis188, Thrasher28 and 1 other person Thank this.

Can only do the speed limit everywhere unfortunately. Trust me, I miss being able to do a few over in the 55’s and 65’s too lol. The worst is when I’m somewhere a little unfamiliar and pass someone without realizing the speed limit is about to drop. I know they must think I’m an idiot
Friend, wulfman75, Suspect Zero and 5 others Thank this. -
oh yeah now I remember. That seems pretty stupid. Why not just govern their trucks at a simple 68 or something? That seems a lot easier than messing around with software. Just one more thing to go wrongKnucklehead, Friend, smokey12 and 4 others Thank this.

Got a slight update for Schuster:
Road with another driver down to Oklahoma to recover a truck that someone abandoned and bring it back to Iowa. The new internationals they’re purchasing have the new S13 engine with the 14 speed transmission. Drivetrain is smooth as butter and actually has pretty decent power for what it is. I reckon time will tell on the reliability standpoint, but was pretty pleasant to drive for a day. Only thing that took some getting used to is you have to tap the brakes to active the Jake brake, but it was nice not having to turn the Jake off and on all day to coast down hills. Unfortunately, they went with the EPU/auto start-stop option on these trucks instead of the standard APU. It’s not too shabby though. The start up with this engine is much smoother than the X15’s, so it doesn’t shake you awake. It also went 8 hours with the heat running before it even had to start, so it wasn’t too annoying by any means. These still drive like an International though, so I don’t have any compliments on the steering and handling aspect lmaoFriend, Lonesome, hotrod1653 and 5 others Thank this. -
I've heard good things about the S13. It's basically designed by Scania, which makes a far superior product over in Sweden compared to any American truck.
Friend, Lonesome, azheavyduty and 1 other person Thank this. -
they give ya a kenworth yet?Friend Thanks this.

Not yet. Hoping I’ll get put in one when my truck is due up for trade in this summer. The International burn out has set in for sure. Can’t complain too much since it hasn’t given me a single check engine light or issue in the 230,000 miles I’ve put on it thus far. Would be a much more enjoyable job in one of the KW’s though
Internationals get down the road alright. Just drives sloppy, even after an alignment. It’s bad when you catch yourself day dreaming about how nice it’d be to be driving a FreightlinerLast edited: Jan 31, 2026 at 9:02 AM
