Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

Seat of the pants trucking strikes again. I thought my day was done early and I could get home earlier that I planned. I was 2 cases short on my load, OS&D had my claim handled quick, and I utilized the extra time my quick unload provided to hit the new Blue Beacon in Jax to rinse out my chicken trailer so it wouldn't sit in the heat until I headed back out. I messaged dispatch that I would be able to handle my personal tasks on Friday so I would be able to leave out on Saturday instead of Monday. He called me to confirm, and would let the planners know. I got the trailer washed out and stopped at the Love's in Baldwin for a chicken biscuit, and to give Ops a chance to see if they wanted to put something on me today that I could take by the house until Saturday. After 45 min I decided to head home (about 75 miles). 25 miles from home I get a message, they now want me to drop my trailer at a shipper and then bobtail home. (The problem is, I am on a 2 lane state road with no place close to turn around for a while.) I finally get to Lake Butler where there is a Hardee's with a small truck parking area, so I get turned around, grump at dispatch about their timing, and head back to Jacksonville. On the way, they send me a preplan out of the same shipper, but it doesn't pick up until Saturday morning. When I messaged them to see if I could bobtail back in on Saturday I never heard back, so... that's what I am planning on doing...they still haven't dispatched me on the load, but maybe they're waiting on the stars and planets to align...or waiting to see if I have won the Powerball jackpot because they know I wouldn't be one of those people that would swear they'd stay working even if they won a billion dollars.

 

Not me...I'd have a prime time press conference and name all the companies that have pissed me off and tell their management to go F themselves while I was flipping them the bird...it would be well worth paying any FCC fine the network got for my offense language...
