Ok....cool. I still don't get the assumption. I fail to see how all of those "metrics" equals to such a big accusation on Prime.
prime needs to be investigated for 49 CFR 391.1

Because it’s on Prime to hire qualified drivers, which they aren’t if a translator app is needed for communication. And it’s also on Prime to make sure their contractors hire qualified drivers since they are the carriers charge of safety.
Oxbow, Gearjammin' Penguin, BoostedTeg and 3 others Thank this. -
I've actually seen a few drivers turned away from shippers and recievers recently for this exact reason... only like 3, but it's a start.Oxbow, IH Truck Guy, Gearjammin' Penguin and 6 others Thank this.

I know i saw duffy say a couple weeks ago , the shipper will own the load they allow to leave with a driver not capable of reading or speaking engrish .
Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Before I retired from my full time career in the tire biz we had worked out a logistics contract with Knight Transportation. Full truck loads of defective tires to go back to the manufacturers final inspection centers. First two trucks that showed up were old hands (for that company) hoping for a dedicated run. After the load up in triple digit summer heat all the drivers they sent after that could not and were not interested in speaking english. I guess Knight figured a few of them came from desert regions in other country’s do they could handle it. This was 5 years ago. I retired last year.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
I am definitely not disputing what you say or defending Prime. I have a different perspective of their drivers I have met. The place I pay to park runs a warehousing operation and one of their customers has contracted with Prime shipping 4-5 loads daily with them to South Texas.
Side note** They are cheap because my buddy who owns a small fleet lost the work to Prime as he used to haul these loads for really good money. He contract hauls Avocados back for a local produce company.
Nearly every Sunday I wash my rig and nearly every Sunday a Prime truck comes in expecting to get loaded on Sunday because that’s what their dispatch has told them. I am the only one on-site on Sundays and they almost always come have a conversation with me. I have yet to meet one who didn’t speak English and most were middle aged white guys like myself, but a few were women about my age. I assume they have thousands of drivers so I haven’t formed an opinion on all Prime drivers except that years ago they all ran 58 MPH. That has changed in the last few years. -
That had to hurt.ColoradoLinehaul Thanks this.

File a complaint.
Be sure to give a date, time, tractor number, trailer number, license plate number, all the useful info you can. Description of the driver, location (highway/intersection), color of truck, make, model and that they didn't speak or comprehend English.

And for good measure, file one with ICE too.
(Edit I tried to post the direct link but it appears someone on this forum has censored it because it was gone when my post was posted. Unbelievable. Whoever made that decision, you are an Anti-American COWARD!)
The more of these drivers we get off the roads and sent back to their countries of origin, the more freight will pick up and the wages for the drivers who have a cdl, have proper training and are good standing as US citizens, will increase.Last edited: Dec 25, 2025
