I think it would be ok if it was doing line haul type of trucking. But running local and in town all day every day was hard on the clutches.Carpenter Scotty and Oxbow Thank this.

We catch dealers in the “back order “ lie all the time. We can find the same part thru other channels and we call them out on it. Thats when the truth comes out. They have to get it thru their channel and can not get from other outside “unauthorized” sources OR during holiday’s they don’t have the proper folks in the corporate office chain to get it ordered or installed because of pto.

FYI I was at a KW shop. Said no turbo for my truck in the state! Be 2-4 days.
I called KW 6 blocks away. They had one I had to walk to get it, bought it brought it back. They didn’t know how I found one.Opendeckin, Sons Hero, AModelCat and 6 others Thank this. -
I wanted to wait and get a second verification before posting this, but I can’t wait until Monday. I called KW and to check if they have any further information on the ETA for the clutch. This service rep said they don’t have an eta for the clutch nor the transmission and some electronic part. I asked the rep that for the past 3 weeks it has been just the clutch and now you’re telling me you are replacing the transmission as well. I asked him to double check and he said yes on that a transmission has been ordered. This is getting ridiculous.
I hope to God they replace the transmission. That would be a great outcome. I will ask them to email me the parts order. Not sure if they will. -
If I was in your shoes, I’d be calling corporate to speed things up, tell them your wife’s pregnant and you’re on a verge of bankruptcy if your truck doesn’t get rolling soon. I’ve had a similar situation and it bit me in the ### hard, it’s usually not possible that trans or clutch is on back order for a crazy long time, it’s their excuse to save every penny possible and source every bolt and washer for cheap . I worked as service manager for 2 years and ordered parts on hourly basis, back order in Mercedes or Schaumburg might be 6 month, while “back order” in Mercedes of Hoffman estates can get me the part in 2 days. And I’ve seen that many times.Siinman, AFC, 1999 C12 and 1 other person Thank this.

Hey Pushbroom, good to see you!
I hope your shop is doing well!pushbroom and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
This is one reason why I don’t buy new tech. You have become part of the research and development team without being paid for it. They never do the proper testing on things anymore. They just throw it out there and let the buyer be the lab mice. It broke in service and now the engineers have gotten involved to find out why. You are stuck waiting on that broken chain.
When a manufacturer claims a million miles trouble free nowadays. It doesn’t mean they actually had individual units go a million. It just means they had 6 of them go 200k before they broke.Last edited: Jan 4, 2026 at 10:38 AM
