So recently, I purchased a set of four rear shock absorbers, and was unable to install them myself because the bottom bolt was seized. So I took them on the road with me and one day I had some free time and popped into a love’s shop. I figured they had better tools plus a torch to heat it up and knock the bolts loose. The guy said he was unable to get them out so he was going to bust out the torch. A few minutes later, he managed to break off the bottom plate bracket that holds the shock in two spots!. I was furious. He managed to half ### weld it back together just to install the new shock and obviously I told them not to touch the rest.
The manager on duty said that there was nothing she could do( aside from a discounted oil change). We called the shop manager And the only solution she offered was for them to go to the dealer, purchase the part, mark it up (!) charge me for the part but no labor cost. Yeah right. First of all that bracket has huck bolts on the bottom to secure u-bolts over the axle Which need to be drilled out. Even the mechanic there said he had never worked on it before. It obviously needs replacing, so I’m going to probably have to get it done on my own dime and then file some kind of a dispute with love’s corporate. Anybody had any experience with this??

That stinks. If you dont have a angle grinder id highly recommend getting one. Next time just zap the bolt nut off.
Good luck -

Yet another reason to have your work done at a shop and not a quick lube place.
Opendeckin, Bean Jr., SL3406 and 14 others Thank this. -
The only thing loves is good for is taking a #### in their toilet and usually they cant even get that right... Breaking #### happens when working on trucks but that right there is special.. shocks are one of the easiest jobs to do.

I know this may sound nosy, but I do have to ask…what exactly did you pay for?
Also, did you get names? The reason why I ask is in a conference call, names help a lot. Had an instance at the TA Laredo where my right rear marker light on my bobtail would not work no matter what I did. Took it to the TA shop. After a couple hours, they call me to the shop and told me that they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I go to my truck and now none of the lights work. “BTW driver, you owe $300.” Okay, can you get me back to where I only had one light out? “No, we don’t know what’s wrong.” You are charging me $300 for some hack to butcher my wiring harness. “Well, we have to pay our tech.” Fine, I am your new worst enemy.
The next visit to the TA kiosk ended up with the kiosk asking me if I would take a survey about the TA Laredo shop. I am going to tell everyone who will listen to never take their truck here. I wouldn’t let you guys work on the doghouse of a dog I want dead. TA corporate calls me, hears my side and does a conference call with me and the shop manager. The shop manager wants to know why, if I was so unhappy with the service, I didn’t contact her first. Your name is Valerie, right? You were the idiot behind the desk that I had to deal with. TA Corporate had one of those “Oh Ship!” moments.
BTW, in case you owner ops don’t know, be careful when using TA and Loves for wheel seals, especially on the steers. They don’t fool with spindles. Corporate policy. If their tech deems your front spindles as unacceptable, they won’t touch it or allow an outside mechanic on property. They will require a tow to another shop. So, you might as well go to a real shop in the first place.Opendeckin, Bean Jr., Siinman and 8 others Thank this. -
Shocks are easy?
My TA experience
That missing washer has to be ordered..happens when you don’t put a correct replacement on.
Siinman, broke down plumber, Rideandrepair and 4 others Thank this. -
Yes they are easy as long as nothing is seized and have been properly maintained. Some people think shocks last forever. I change them once a year or if tires start wearing weird. Can change all 4 drives in 15 mins...put some anti seize on those studs while ur there. Make it easier for next time

Love’s most likely has insurance to cover any damage they may cause.
I would contact corporate and ask how to file a claim. They will likely reimburse you out of pocket. -
Get yourself a lawyer and start looking for land in Oklahoma.
Cuz you about to get paid.
D.Tibbitt and broke down plumber Thank this.
