I think you’re right. That and the fact a dealer has a much higher hourly rate. The one I worked at 17 years ago was over $100 an hour. By now I have no idea what they’d be charging.

I spent north of $30,000 on SnapOn tools. The top technician there had a Craftsman toolbox and almost all Craftsman or other cheap brand tools. He never went on the tool trucks. He taught me a valuable lesson tho, and I began buying Freightliner trucks instead of Peterbilt and actually made a bit of money with them lol.mjd4277, Toomanybikes, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this.

I don’t think i’ve rver bought a Snap-on tool new. I’ve had a few passed down from family. Like my Grand pa’s WW2 military issue set with a bunch of specialized wrenches for the various warbirds he worked on and a worn out 5/16 drive socket set that is obsolete with a lifetime warranty. I’ve gotten thru life with Craftsman new from Sears and have bought the other Snap-on stuff at pawn shops. That is a great source for name brand good tools. Specially the ones close to the big dealerships. Lol.

I know a guy that pawned a bunch of Snap On tools he still owed money on. The Snap On guy was fairly furious about it but couldn’t really do anything about it. Idk if he ever got his money.mjd4277 and SmallPackage Thank this.

Any more Fords are disposable vehicles. You have the 1999 and older trucks that will outlive us all. Then you have the newer trucks that are cheaper to replace every three years than repair. Also Fords warranty is crap. I bought a F250 in 2002 and the engine ate itself in the Second year. Ford said they wouldn’t honor the warranty because I didn’t have the oil changed at the dealership.
If you wonder how ford stays the number 1 truck manufacturer it’s because they make their trucks to fail. -
Thought of this for this thread. Craftsman and highly skilled folks Building them big HotRod lincoln V8’s. 25 mins in a guy is building those iconic Lincoln spoke wheels. 42 mins in watch that dude lay that pinstripe on by hand.OldeSkool Thanks this. -
As the forklift operator at Ford used to say when something went wrong. Sounds like Ford has a problem.
