Well, I guess word has gotten around in Lincoln not to call me when I am on a break.(As in DON'T POKE THE BEAR).(The wife and I referrence the old Life cereal commercial "I'm not gonna try it, you try it...I'm not gonna try it... let's get Mikey"...only it's I'm not gonna call him, you call him...let's get Mikey). On my way to deliver in Lima (that delivered at midnight Sunday night/Monday morning) I got a 2 stop preplan. Delphos, OH to Olney, IL (live unload) and Clarksville, AR (drop). The live unload was for 18:30 Monday night (18 hrs after delivering in Lima - 350 miles away). The only way I could legally do it was split log a break. I managed to get to the Love's in Olney 9 hours before my appointment, so I went into my sleeper part of my split (an 8 hour nap). When I got up to go pee and get moving to the DC, I saw a message...one of the other dispatchers messaged me and after multiple apologies for calling during my break, asked if I could help get a load from Effingham to the Wally dc south of the Columbus terminal by 4 am Tuesday morning because one of his drivers ran out of hours. Of course I didn't get any phone calls because I now go to sleep with my phone in airplane mode so nobody can get thru. When I saw the message it was already after 17:00, so I messaged that there was no way I could legally do it, and I wasn't giving up on the 1500 additional miles I had to run on the load I had plus the preplan all because somebody doesn't know how to trip plan.

Now, my next load is from Rogers AR to Wintersville, OH that picks up Wednesday and delivers Thursday evening. After I got done dropping the 2nd stop on the Delphos load in Clarksville, and was headed to the Love's on I-49 before it filled up, I get this message

This is on top of the DAILY hounding about watching some video on the tablet about winter driving...which I have gone thru (I didn't watch it, I just let it play the other day w/o sound while I made dinner.) Like some cubicle dwelling desk driver in safety has any real experience driving a truck in winter. This place has become a serious joke of a company. They obviously think we are totally ignorant dimentia patients that need this much reminding to do trucking-101 level duties.

"Okay, Nancy, let me make things unmistakably clear. I don't give a chrome plated crap who's watching this load, or if anyone is. I will do my job and get it where it needs to be on time and undamaged...if I'm left alone to do my job. If I'm being constantly harassed, I will make it my sole mission in life to see that Tyson drops us as a customer until the end of time. Do we have an understanding, or do I have to write it out in crayon?"

Well based on the Crete driver I saw the other day missing his cab fairings and damaged bumper I'd say yes there are some dementia patients here.....

Based on my conversation with safety in Lincoln, when I did my due to physical last year, they seem to be firing a lot of people that can’t drive but obviously some are falling through the cracks

Good on you for taking a stand against this and demanding access to a bathroom and shower on your break. Literally the only industry in the entire country where the employer isn't obligated to give you access to a shower and a toilet at the end of your shift if you're traveling for work. It's disgusting how OTR drivers are treated by their companies and warehouses in this (and many other) regards. Good for you Snackbar.

Many of your posts on this site share the same theme, and you bring up some good points, but when you say things like this it can be difficult to take you seriously. While other people employed doing other jobs may get travel allowances while on the road for their work their employer doesn’t have to make sure they can poop and shower at the end of their day.

And the insanity continues. Get to Tyson 45 min before my live load appointment. Go to check in and....the load has been postponed until Friday because of a lack of product. The part that pisses me off is, they sent an email to Lincoln YESTERDAY, (not sure when)...but I bet that our CSR has it in their inbox, but never got around to reading it. All that ######## about "hurry hurry, get to the shipper, Tyson is watching this load closely" was for nothing.

The csr people here are the issue.. they don’t understand what communication is or don’t care one of the two or maybe a combination of both

Currently unloading in Livermore, California, then I’m gonna have to bring the load to ripon and swap out with a driver so the driver can deliver the other stop tonight in Oakland… Because of They delays at Tyson in Kansas they reset the appointments for 0500 this morning and the final stop for 1900 this evening at the port of Oakland
