Me and my 04 caterpillar are not allowed in sniffing distance of California, wouldn't go even if I was allowed, beautiful state, mainly really good people but want to make sure as little of my money goes to that government as possible so I don't go.
Toomanybikes, Speedy356, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
OK - well thanks. I'm leased on to them and have no fanboy love for them.
But I'll say this.
Watch closely at the 4 minute mark in the video, and you'll see the article that was flashed up in the video, regarding Landstar - was from about 3 years ago.
I almost finished wasting my time watching this video, but he devolved into selling supplements, and blathering on about other CA topics that , after the 4 minute mark, I could neither verify or trust.
You can be assured that LS corporate would have reached out well before the doom and gloom date of January the 1st, 2026, if CA based carriers were to have to cease operations or move.
Also, note that LS agents are independent contractors themselves, thus - I am an IC, dealing with an IC, in the goldfish bowl of LS, muddying the waters of CA's ABC test.
Bottom line - it's nice that you're paying attention to the situation, but - posting a video from this Turdley guy as proof and fact without fully knowing the proof, . . . parrots tend to learn bad language from their keepers. Don't be a parrot. Think for yourself. Factcheck.exhausted379, Toomanybikes, Speedy356 and 7 others Thank this. -
You’re correct, Landstar did tell their contractors back in 2022 to move out of state or open their own authority.

I don’t watch the OP’s videos, they’re nothing but political trash.
Off topic..ever thought about getting your own authority and putting more money in your account?
Lol, if I can do it anyone can!bryan21384, gentleroger and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
There’s a lot more to it if everyone wants to be honest.
The heavy crude oil is a major problem for the refiners there. Refineries closing lately isn’t exclusive to CA..it’s worldwide. They’re consolidating due to market demand and changes.
Heck, I didn’t pay $2.55 for diesel the other day because of any high demand. -
Honest question, honest answer.
Yes, many times. Even more so in the last 4 years. Then things change.
This last year or two I've worked with an agent , picking up their scraps, in hope of the better paying freight suited to my trailer type, only to learn that they continually broker that out to an independent that they 'Have an agreement with'.
Rather disappointing, given the level of service I have provided them , only to find that I am their last resort.
However, a relationship has formed by working with another agent, that (for the meantime) only deals with BCO's, and does not broker out freight.
These situations change, but the new year has started off well, and (I've asked the question) , is based on service level. Problem solving, Need to know communication, organization, and customer satisfaction. I finally became a 'go to guy'. For now. At least.
So - no. The percentage I give up, does not outweigh the additional cost of getting my own authority. This current opportunity would be lost if I pursue that path.
But yes - I constantly weigh my options. This last 3 years has been a test for sure.Albertaflatbed, exhausted379 and Concorde Thank this. -
I am.
It's is not the place of government to powder the behinds of truckers crying about their poor choices, since that was your argument. I think you're wrong about that being the cause of AB5 BTW. The AB5 initiative was mostly a reaction to the treatment of Uber drivers. I don't think the idiots who run Sacremento had any idea nor any concern for how it would affect other industries.
What AB5 does is deny a perfectly good option to truckers who know what they are doing. And it denies small trucking companies a business model that could be their only way to stay in business. If I own my own truck, why shouldn't I be able to make whatever deal I want?TheLoadOut, Concorde and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I value all members input, but yes - I very rarely take any stock in YT videos, or links posted.
If you have something to say, say it yourself, rather than post a link to an advertisement/subscription/endorsement pile of garbage.Albertaflatbed, Opus, Speedy356 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I tend to agree - Uber drivers was the root of this.
Slippery slope, I guess? Is the government to save the poor fool with a $15k Nissan Versa running a taxi service , or will it try to save a person with a CDL signing up for $150k worth of equipment under a shoddy lease purchase deal?exhausted379 and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
Yah, you’re not alone..the last three years has been rough going. Be proud of yourself that you made it through the trying times and look forward to great success.
Last month or so for me has been absolutely incredible. Something I desperately needed to change how I’ve been feeling.
Don’t know if it’ll last but I’m just going to focus on making good decisions.
Best of luck to you!Albertaflatbed, Oldman83, Big Road Skateboard and 1 other person Thank this.
