Great points. recruiters are not company employees with authority, I found out to late. I had a verbal pay promise of $0.35 per mile, A not more then 2 year old truck, and more loads then I would probably want, with home days every week.:biggrin_25513: As a business man before all this I did think there was honor or at least some credibility NOT.
Federal minimum wage is $7.25 every time a trucker fuels up it's for free!!(line 4 on duty not driving) you have 14 hours a day to donate. It is just to bad you all can't put an end to the abuse and let trucking be what it was 35 years ago ( I did drive in the 70's)
The times have changed and so did the American way, I want my America back.

ya know...... there is a way, BTW I agree with everything you said, to get into the industry and avoid the bottom feeder companies but it requires a thick skin and a lot of door knocking.

Get out there and hit the small companies. The ones that don't have websites. Most of those folks still do a lot of things the old school way. You just might walk in the door at the right time and get a job.

It sounds like we have similar backgrounds. After looking at the OTR companies I hit all of the small local outfits and ended up with a bulk tanker job. Unfortunately I screwed up my knee a few days ago ...... but I should be back in the saddle by the end of next week - not that it matters in the context of the thread.

Don't give up just go for it. There are decent jobs out there.

I'm thinking he was probably doing a quick "inspection" and the bathroom bright light and mirror were just what he needed to find out "why does it burn when I pee?":biggrin_255:

All newbs should read this story through more than once and pay attention. This is not just for this particular company but any bottom feeder. Sorry to the OP. This one really has to sting.:biggrin_25513:

WOW! I will be out of school soon (4 weeks left ) I sure do hope the kind of things that happened to this new driver doesn't happen to me!. I am getting my CDL at a state college. I guess I may be lucky the state payed for my 10 weeks of school so at least I wont owe anyone!. I don't expect a easy driving job to start with and will take my lumps without whining. I have chosen Schneider to get my OTR experience. (I HOPE I CHOSE WELL)

After doing stints at England (3 mo) and Prime (2 mo), Schneider is where I am now. I park in Fontana, but my Op Center is out of West Memphis.

So far, so good. Doesn't seem to be a "mill" style deal and so far, at least, most of the people you come in contact with seem to treat you as a human being.

looks like truckers wife documented the experience every step of the way and tracked the expenses to the penny. these people with some experience mite make it in the industry
these tales are always on the forums and the users detect bs and rookie mistakes and damage to equipment and your peers seem to think your the real deal.
i got my experience and training at swift a long time ago and found a local job and will stick with it as long as i can pass the physical
get on with schneider or swift for a couple hundred thousand miles and dont look back. these are hard times but you will make it happen

When any Ad says 'Up To $45,000' it means nothing other than they can pay you anywhere from zero up to $45,000, likely closer to zero. It's BS in advertizing and any company that uses slick claims should be crossed off your list of possible schools and employers.

Advice is good. But who else but the mills would hire a new driver? Have you started at some Holy Trucking Trinity Ltd? I doubt that. You most likely started long time ago, when economy was better or got your way around =mills= otherwise.
We are not mentally challenged. We just don't have other choices. Economy is in the toilet right now and we need to feed our families. Like PHD's can't drive? I will. I'll drive, I'll fly, I'll ride a monkey if I have to feed my family. ok? So, just don't assume all new folks are tarded or have less potential to get driver's skills. We just have no other offers but Prime, Werner and Swift.
I appreciate your =i told you=. But would =i told you so= something that YOU want to hear if you were to have problems? If you know that much, maybe you can give all of us and advice that we, new people, could use. except of =run= that is.
    thank you
