well heil, why they just come out with what they ultimately want.

caught not chaining up = immediate summary execution, after being whipped with a bullwhip and your head stuck on a guardrail post as a warning to all other truckers that CO. has a ZERO tolerance policy.

Now is this running without chains or just pulling over and waiting it out?

.... hahahaha... dumbest thing ever to threaten, like half the states don't honor other states points.

Actually, what they (the ski areas) want is to ban all trucks from I-70 between Oct. 1st and April 30th. so as to not interfere with ski traffic.

Bet they change the attitude when Summit County grocery shelves are empty and gas stations are dry. Only place worse is Vail.

The state has contracts with 4 different companies that will come out in these areas to chain you up, if you don't know how. But they do charge for this service. They also have classes teaching you how to put them on. They also charge for the class.

Democratic candidate for governor John Hickenlooper has proposed installing tractor-trailer restrictions along sections of I-70 in Colorado during times of heavy traffic, such as weekend rush hours. The Colorado Independent reported that Hickenlooper would like to ban vehicles heading westbound on Friday afternoons and trucks heading eastbound on Sunday afternoons.

cited California's ban on trucks through Donner Pass during inclement weather as an example.
Just my opinion, but California restricting truck traffic through a mountainous region during times of snow and high winds for safety reasons is a far cry from Colorado restricting truck traffic and slowing interstate trade because residents want to enjoy their weekends.

That's just politics... Hickenlooper is currying favor with the voters (aka skibums) so he can get elected governor. Its the usual ski-politics...
