Man I have read all your posts. Me I am in Parkersburg Wv. I am going to goto C-1. I want to goto the one you did. Anything about USA I should know. I really want to get on with them, and not PAM. PAM is all automatics. Blhhhh on a autoshift. Anything they hound you on at USA? I see the trucks driving in WV sometimes, and over in Reno, Marietta Ohio where I work for now. USA does have some pretty trucks also. Some blogs on here say they SUck, but The truck I seen the other day, boy she was clean. Let me know if they hound you on anything during training, or orientation.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but there is a 95% chance you will end up with an automatic with USA. Also, after your training with a trainer at USA and after you finish your upgrade test, they will ask you if you want to go home or get your own truck. Say you want to go home, Most likely if you get your own truck your fleet manager won't count the 4+ weeks you were out with your trainer and will only give you the weeks starting after your upgrade test.
While USA does have some nicer trucks out there, there are still plenty of 9400i's out there.
While in training and orientation they like to talk about safety a lot. Use whatever you want afterwards, but it is best to stay safe and I wish everyone starting out (like me) many safe miles out there.
I was lucky with my trainers, they were both very nice, clean, and answered all my questions and if I made a mistake here and there they would tell me calmly and never yell which I liked.
As with any company, it is what YOU make out of it. YOU control whether or not you are happy. My first two weeks were stressful at times, but I worked through it somehow and i'm sure there are many more "situations" in the future. -
Hey Green, what do you mean when you say they wont count the 4+ weeks of training? You mean towards the 1-year obligation? Also, if they give you a choice to go home after training or get your own truck, why go home? Seems like the point is to get your own truck?? I am going with USA, currently I have finished my first week at C1 (Ft Wayne) and am heading to the "range" on Monday (9/20).
I appreciate the posts and the information from the people whom have gone before me (and LOTS of others), I understand that it is what you make it. Thanx for all the input!! -
I think what he means is , when you come in form your training and are asked if you want some home time or get your truck , he is suggesting the home time because the weeks of training wont be counted so you will have to be out another 14 days before you can put in for home time.

Ahhhh.....that makes sense jim.....ty. Either way I guess you end up with a truck.

Glad to hear you are likeing it at USA Truck. Good luck on the rest of your training and the rest of your career. I have applied at Trail Liner out of Springfield, MO and am just waiting to hear back from them. Thought about going with USA Truck but would like to get some more info on them in case the Trail Liner thing don't work out. I am familier with the trucking life as my dad was a trucker for close to 20 years of my life. Used to really love going out with him during the summer. Anyway, just keep us informed and how well you like USA and any downs you come across with them.
