I LIKED WORKING FOR KNIGHT WHILE THE FRIEGHT WAS GOOD. WHEN I WANTED TO GO HOME, IT ALWAYS HAPPENED, NO FORCED FREIGHT, GOT TO GO WHERE I WANTED, GOT PAID EVERY DAY. ALL KINDS OF STUFF. I DON'T KNOW, I LIKED IT FOR 4 YEARS. GOT MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND HAD TO HANG UP THOSE KEYS FOREVER. TRIED TO SNOW JOB MY MEDICAL FOR OTHER REASONS BUT I DON'T THINK IT WORKED, THEY KNEW MY SUGAR WAS HIGH. GOOD LUCK!

GET A DIGITAL CAMERA. I USED DISPOSABLE CAMERAS AND HAD TO SCAN THEM ALL IN WITH A FLATBED SCANNER AND SOFTWARE, ETC..

Size does not matter. Until you get seniority (about 10 years) you are just a number to be abused. Notice I said legacy and commuters in the post. Legacy carriers are the big guys. They have the same issues as the commuters, you just don't hear about them as much. The last big story about the legacy guys was AAL's MD-80 problems.

It had NOTHING to do with the flight crew being tired. had nothing to do with icing (though it sure didnt help). it had everything to do with the fact that the captain had failed numerous check rides, and had only BARELY passed the test to become a captain. 3,300 hrs flying time, 300 flying the Dash 8 and 100 as captain of said a/c type. It was also found that the actions of the crew were inconsistant with company stall recovery procedures. The lady first officer had retracted the flaps, and asked if the gear should be put up. like American Eagle 4184 that crashed on halloween, high wing aircraft need to be manually flown in order for a crew to be aware of the behavior of the aircraft in icing conditions.

That was a major factor, and the guy should have been given the heave-ho long ago. Did you know neither had much experience in icing? Oh yea, I literally ROFL when I read the "...pulled back on the yoke with the airplane in a stalled condition."

Thanks All ATP's and other pilot mills... If the commuters were a trucking company it would be BFI Airlines.

I never finished getting my licence in 74 but if memory serves me, if in a stall isn't the nose high speed slow and the corrective action is to rudder into and push into the stall? Pulling back kinda slows it down more, correct, which is a bad thing?

If you take the flying posts and apply it to Knight I'd say it's the same thing! Someone there is flying and in a stall and instead of doing the correct recovery motions are pulling back on the yoke and about to become a brick and crash big time!
Yeah, we're still talking about Knight, and the coming soon to a screen near you "Arrow Impersonation!"

Did she really think that telling a driver that feels his miles aren't where they should be what she told me was a good way to get him to stay? So this is how Knight parts ways with a driver with 12 total accident/ticket free years of experience(6 bus/6 truck) that for the majority of his time with them took very good care of their largest customer? Nonforced dispatch? Please, I was told that if I wasn't willing to run L.A./Bay area constantly by the division manager at the beginning of September that quote, "You are of no used to me."

So what's wrong with Knight? Nothing. I know, your saying huh? what? Wait a minute, what about everything I just said. Okay, have a coke and a smile and follow along while I explain.

Knight is a corporation, It's ONLY responsibility is to make its shareholders as much money as possible while not breaking any laws. The company slowly morphed from a big small company to just a plain ol' big company. Along the way there business model slowly morphed from varied length of haul driver friendly freight to short haul high revenue preferred. It does make sense, why haul a 600 mile load that makes you $100 profit when you can haul two 200 mile loads that make you $100 each. In the process though the driver takes it in the shorts, working harder and harder for less and less. In example, my first yearly review, I had ran 144,000 miles in the previous 12 months. After that it steadily dropped every review to the one I just received a couple of months ago, 109,000 miles. The real kicker? I had more home time the first year then the last(I keep track so yes that is a factual certainty).

Now to sustain this new business model Knight had but one choice, ignore driver complaints and hire more to overcome the higher turnover rate. At first, the drivers that had been there for a longer period of time got good runs such as the IKEA loads. Slowly though everyone got shifted into the short haul grind.

I'll conclude with this, If your looking for a trucking company to invest in, by all means buy some Knight stock because they do out preform the rest of the industry on a regular basis. If your looking for a job, understand that you'll be an expendable asset that is there to do what they want when they want you to till you leave and they get someone else to fill that air ride seat you just got out of. Also remember that the less you make the more the company makes thanks to their business model. Kevin wouldn't have it any other way.

Sorry that this happened to you truck driver,times have changed for the worst, with most all companys anymore, to say nothing for the feds and local law enforcement in our pockets.
