Gears mentioned DEF which I know nothing about.

However if your truck does the regen thing, it's pretty automatic. The computer knows when it needs to be done, can be done parked or driving. You have the control to cancel it if you thought it was wise to wait til later. I had done that a few times because I knew when it started its routine while I was about to arrive at a shipper/receiver most likely would be shutting the engine down on their property so I would cancel it til I got back out on the big road and up to speed. I never did it parked because I think that's rude what with the extremely high idle when people are trying to sleep.

I imagine the truckers who use DEF must be cursing that product. Here's a guy rolling into the fuel aisle but now he has to go inside, stand in line, buy this box of fluid come back out and pour it in. Finish fueling, toss the box on the ground next to the pump and pull ahead and go *back* into the truck stop *again* to wash his hands. Meanwhile 30 minutes have gone by what used to be a routine 15 minute job.

my truck keeps trying to do a regen, but I guess hasnt finished because something always causes me to shut down or something. I tried doing a parked one yesterday, but it wouldnt do it, even though the system said ok for everything.

    thanks for the help again.

Enetually it will derate and shut down and you'll need a mechanic to come out.

I had that happen in my trainers truck, we had the freightliner dealer override the codes and force a regen.

I will say this, I am impressed with the drive in this volvo, lots of pulling power and a smooth ride compared to the columbia i trained in.

Not that I know much...but I just let my Volvo regen when it wants...i don't even pay attention to it really. Check the oil and make sure nothing is leaking out the bottom and that is all I do...some may say they spend all day checking things out...I say pay attention to what is normal for ur gauges and if you look down and see something different then stop and check it out. Other than that the reason they just throw u the keys...and that is what happenend to me...is that u only need to use a little common sense with these trucks.

instead of giving the guy crap, couldn't you just be a professional driver, and lend your .02 cents?

pull down your sun visor, and check the chart for the ReGen. i cant remember, but if it is blinking, it needs changed out, and the truck will shut itself down to keep you from doing any damage.
