I did not count my training time when I came to the 26K for my first year figure. I was in the Canada Zone, and my miles were a large part of the problem, it wasn't just the low per mile pay. I would often sit with 8 or 9 hrs on my 14 then get a load for 200 or so miles. I was not alone as guys with more than 2 years in were facing the same problem I was. I tried calling driver placement to see if there was anything else available to me, anything else that could lead to more miles, nothing, nadda, zilch. I have 7 offers in front of me ranging from a local job to dedicated to regional work with the lowest offering my 34 cpm ... that in and of itself is a huge difference in my book.
Now I am doing my research and hope to soon make a decision on where I am going to go.
How much u company guys makin????

No wife, no kids, not worried about being on the road. No house payment, so I'm looking to live in the truck for a few years. Afterwards, we'll see if I'm still the "loner" type.
-
Not everyone wants to be home. Some of us are getting into trucking to get away from home!Lady K Thanks this.

So when I'm at the bar watching the game, I'm at work? I'm not home, #### need to start getting paid for that.

bs, you wouldn't know what you are talking about like usual, never peddled freight obviously, you know how to work a pallet jack and a liftgate? how about a converter dolly and doubles? just because you are in bottomfeeder otr bizarro world, does not mean i am as well. If i am hooking a set together with dollies in the yard, i am being paid. if i am hand unloading 100 lb bags of flour off the back of a trailer, i will be paid. your voluntary slave mentality shows your ignorance.
most people expect to be paid from the time that they are told to show up to work, to the time they go home. no one else volunteer's their time like truck drivers do. plumbers do not get paid per feet of pipe ran. welders do not get paid cents per welding rod. so when i am waiting on the dock, i do not expect to be doing it for free. ignorant volunteers like yourself bring the whole industry down. btw, i don't work a union job right now, so you can keep pretending that its only union employee's that are not suckers like you.
btw, 1 hour break time, 1/2 paid, 1/2 unpaid, read it and weep, and grumble about it in the back of your swift truck.walleye, jlkklj777, chicagocity and 1 other person Thank this. -
yep, most of america's workforce, union or not, expect to be paid for ALL of their time, not just certain portions. get over it. and your " detention pay" is a joke. 2 free hours out of you, taking away time that you could be earning on your 14. -
Why do Teamsters get so angry and vile at the very thought of someone wondering why an 8th grade drop out should make $32.14 per hour plus a pension for cleaning toilets?
Take your paid lunch and enjoy it. Nobody cares that you lump freight like a day laborer and get paid. I don't touch freight myself, I'm a truck driver.G/MAN Thanks this.
