    our pathetic pay?
how do you know how much I'm paid?
For that matter, why do you care?
I've never understood people that berate a company on this board that have never driven or have first hand knowledge of that company.
they love to gossip like a bunch of old ladies about something they think they know about because someone heard another person talking to a friend's neighbor.

Must people talk so nasty towards others, I'd rather not.........

Show me 1, just 1 GOOD company that prefers your training over anybody elses........

I guess that's the qualifyer. Who decides who is good?
But for the record, I said I have been contacted by recruiters (for other companies) because, "Stevens drivers are trained well, safe and reliable".

That being said, some of the companies that have contacted me are Ruan, Maverick, May, Watkins Shephard, Schneider, Gordon and UPS.

Maybe none of them are good.

So Stevens gives your contact info out?

Anybody with your tenure at any one company will get the same results. They could care less where you worked. They only care about YOU and your safety record. There's nothing speacial about Stevens.

Stevens doesn't give out contact information (as far as I know)
I asked some of these companies and they told me they pay a 'fee' for referrals. Usually it's one of their drivers who apparently has spoken to me someplace on the road. I did have a few recruiters (2 or 3?) tell me they specifically hunt for Stevens drivers because they are well trained, dependable and easy to pick off for another 3 or 4 cents.
Let's face it. Stevens is a training company. Recruiters for companies that do little or no training will concentrate on those training companies that have good training processes. Stevens isn't the only one.
I know three of the companies chasing after me want me for their tanker divisions. I pulled a tanker for 8 years.
All I have said is Stevens has an excellent training program. They are in demand from other companies (after the driver has completed training and x amount of months driving).
They have been good to me and I choose to remain.

I think people need to understand the caliber of human beings that show up at truck driver training facilities like Stevens. I will use my experience as an example.... (Not Stevens training, but one just like it)

    Class starts with 39 students.

Within the first 2 days, 9 were gone...failed pee test or physical even though they knew there was to be one.

Within 9 days a further 12 were gone after background checks. Even though they knew there was to be one.

Understand, these 21 people would not have gotton a job at McDonalds.

Before the end of school a further 4 just dropped out, couldn't hack it.

So 14 out of 39 graduated, and I know of 8 of these didn't make 6 months solo out on the road.

If you ask, they will all blame the company.

    Pathetic pay??????

I am better off financially at Stevens Transport, than I was as a Store Manager for YUM brands. And I work less hours per week at Stevens.

I enjoy my job, I am treated with respect by the staff in Dallas, I am paid on time, I stay because I choose to.

Stevens is not perfect, no company is. Stevens is a training company, that will work very hard with a person willing to put in the effort and time to learn this job. Not as easy as a job as many who come to the schools think it is. Will I be rich working for stevens??? no. Am I able to live, take vacations, enjoy life at stevens.... H E L ! YES.

Its pointless arguing with these fools. They are blinded by negativity and have no clue what its like to work for a positive company like Stevens.

    Dryver Thanks this.
