I started a 1500 and change mile trip on Monday the 20th of December, delivered on Thursday 23rd. So those miles qualify for the next pay period. Then I turned and burned on 1800 and change miles. Then I accepted a 123 miles empty to go get a load and 593 to deliver it on yesterday Wednesday which was the end of the pay period.
Now I'm at Mack (Thursday evening) and they won't even 'look' at my truck til Monday. Then I'm sure it will be some days for the repairs at that time.
I need some advice. Have you guys been in this situation or know anyone who was and what are some of the options? Would the company possibly send out another driver where I could pile all my crap on his truck and deliver me to a terminal where I could move into another truck and then later send another driver to pick my this truck and return it to Swift service? I think the nearest hotel is 1.5 miles away, I don't mind hiking but I have a feeling my terminal manager is not going to want to pay for a week's stay at a hotel. Do I get breakdown pay? How much is that. I have a million questions.

That sucks!!! Sorry to hear about the accident. I don't have a clue as to your situation, being new and all, but hopefully you can get something acceptable worked out. What area are you in/ what terminal are you near?
scottied67 Thanks this. -
If I remember right, he's in eastern Iowa.

I guess I can't be of much help then... If you are anywhere near Edwardsville I will be glad to help you out any way I can!!!

As it turns out Edwardsville Kansas is the closest terminal to me-- GPS says 334 miles away. My DM is going to load some cash on my comdata card so I can get a room down the street here for the night then reassess what to do tomorrow. It's a big holiday which I totally forgot about so I might just stay here for some days-- oh and it's $50 a day pay breakdown yay. In truth I'd rather keep this truck because it doesn't have that regen crap, idle control crap and runs like a champ. Although now I think it is a cursed truck lol, when I first picked it up last summer I was perusing the old qualcomm messages and there was a recent one: Attention Safety I Have Had an Accident. Reading about it the driver was parked at a truck stop and another driver backed his trailer into this truck. Now this accident yesterday where again somebody plowed into the side-- no fault of the driver.

Sorry I can't help ya... too far and wrong direction. Best of luck and Happy New Year!!! Maybe the bad juju is gone now.

in all seriousness, you at the Mack in des moines or the Mack over by I-80 truck stop? I'm actually in edwardsville now....blasting off in a few and headed to denver. As far as loading your stuff into someones truck to be taken to another terminal (if you're in eastern iowa, i think Gary might be closer.....but not by much) you haven't been on the truck all that long, but you have more stuff than you think of. Swift will reimburse you for the hotel too. So who knows. Enjoy your weekend. I dont think swift will want to remove you from the truck while it sits in the shop. They'll need someone to drive it out of there once it is done anyway....
p.s.
if you are near the i-80 truck stop, you can get a oriental message from room 221 at the Super 8 there.....not that i'd know...but.... =)scottied67 Thanks this. -
Thanks everyone for your words. Mack of Cedar Rapids Iowa. I guess I don't mind sitting here in the hotel lol, I have TV my own toilet and shower big queen sized bed free internet fast food places all around galore (I'm in hog heaven). After 6 months of living in the truck about the size of a prison cell, it's nice to be able to go to the restroom without having to walk 1/8th of a mile or take a shower without having to carry a bag. I can sprawl out on the bed-- how I used to take all those things for granted now seems like luxury lol.
Speaking of how much stuff I have on the truck-- yes I have too much to take it all. I quickly did an assessment of what I would have to do in the scenario if I had to catch a ride and sadly some stuff would have to be left on the truck or thrown away. I would have to fill both of my seabags to the brim, and one large duffel bag. Then roll up my sleeping bag and I have a queen size comforter that would be sacrificed. I have a seat cover and the beads thing for the seat, paper work, jumper cables, tools, extra air lines, oil, coolant, enforcer locks, omg I just don't think I could carry it all on a bus or another truck. -
Finally got a 1500 something mile load to Sparks Nevada, only a couple hundred miles from home.
Im confused the 1500 mile load is just a couple hundred miles? -
