Once I get over(under) -25, I start to screw up a little on my logs...you know, accidentally ya know...the closer I got to -30 the more picky they got...so I try to stay away from that number. The thing is, I really have to try hard to screw up my logs...got so use to doing it as I run it...it's tough to do it any other way.
Well, I've completed my 1st full week of '11...and have been getting very quick responses over the q/comm...I even had them stop me enroute to Goddard KS and reroute me back to K/C to t'call because it was one of those loads that picked up over the weekend and didn't have an appointment time. 1st thing Monday morning they scheduled it...but wouldn't accept it until Thursday. I was going to stop in K/C and spend the night and ask about the appointment before I left. But Mr. Sandman started whispering in my ear, so I decided I would just stop early the night before, and ask about an update on the appointment before I got to the receiver...I should have listened to my little voice and stopped in K/C(well, one of them anyway, there are so many...I get confused...is it my intuition talking, or my paranoia....??? or maybe the little child in me saying "throw a temper tantrum, hold your breath until you get your way"...ummmm wait, maybe I shared too much....
)...Just before Ottawa, KS I get this msg "STOP!!!!!!!!!".(that's it)So I stop, and inquire about what was up... and was told "to run the load back to K/C and drop...and the miles are already re-calculated to pay you since it wasn't your fault"...wow! Then it was a shag from K/C to Topeka(on a trailer that needed a mudflap bracket and mudflap - that "walter"-the shop boss - actually welded on for me because they only had 2 mechanics in the shop). Then Lee's Summit to Jackson, TN...Jackson, TN to Chester SC...and then pick up a load wayyyyyy up in NW SC...so far back in the woods, there isn't cell phone coverage...A water load that was suppose to be in Columbus, OH the next day at noon, but, there were so many trucks getting loaded that they were getting behind, almost everyone was going to be late...so they set me up to T'call in our new Knoxville(Lenoir City) terminal(that is 2 t'calls in one week...they must have me confused with someone else)...plus the trailer had an air-leak...so I dropped it so the shop could fix it. Plus I'm going to put my truck in the shop 1st thing in the a.m. for service and some other needed repairs...1 full week, and I almost had a 3100 mile week had it not been for the delay at the water plant.
I have to say one thing about this Lenoir City terminal...what ever yuck designed this place....Geez, where'd they study layout and design? The fuel island that you have to pull through and check in at 1st, doesn't have a restroom, those are 1/2 a parking lot away, so if you need a restroom and fuel you either park and block the fuel island while you hunt the restroom, or pee your pants, or pee on the fuel island like an *un-named company* driver at a Peelot. There isn't any way to get back to the fuel island once you are in the parking area unless you go all the way out, do a tight 180 in the entrance and then back in... Plus, unless you're at the 1st pump, you have to walk under the 1st pumps fuel hoses while they're pumping fuel into their tank, or over the shin-high elevated conduit that supply's power to the 1st pump, just to get to the card reader to fuel. And I haven't even been in the terminal yet, I've heard that's designed great too...I guess they had the kindergarten class get out their Crayola's for this design.
This may come as a shock to many that have followed this thread, and read about many of my mileage issues...but if my calculations are correct, I should be topping 1 million Crete miles by the end of the calendar year...The only hang-up is I'm not sure about how many miles I had in '04...the MMR only shows the last quarter of '04...so I'm not sure how close to my anniversary date I'll be when I top that Million Mile....or unless they tick me off and I follow Weazz down the road....
Sorry to see you go dude!

wow sounds like a pretty good start to 2011 for ya. Crete is def at the top of my list of companies to go for. Do you know if they hire out of texas. I know there is a yard in north texas but im in central texas. Is there a rule as to how far you have to live from a terminal?
-
-
All my bad points are due to a log violations.Never had an accident or a ticket i know how to make the log book presentable for the DOT and as long you dont go over 15 points its fine with safety
-
You lost me, your DOT presentable log book says one thing but your qualcom tracker, if checked against it, says another? How big a hole are you planning to dig for yourself?
-
And it is this attitude that is getting EOBR's mandated for all of us.
-
Dryver, just guessing I'd say Sustanon is clueless about how 'deep' that hole is!!!
They brought all the 'old guys' in several years ago, or at least they did to ME. My T/M told me this:
---logbook violations are a Federal Offense.
---they can put you at personal expense, if you cheat on logs.
---Qualcomm knows exactly where you are at all times. If the truck is rolling while you have logged Sleeping, and you are in a fatal wreck, you can be personally liable for any monetary damages that a Court imposes. Really.
---if you are an O/O, say, and you have made a Corporation out of it, be sure to have all paperwork of the Corporation PERFECT. That means having all your Quarterly Reports, Quarterly Minutes of Meetings of the Directors, Shareholders, Board of Directors Meetings....you have those, right?? I mean, being SuperTruckers and all, you got you last Qtrs. 'Minutes of Meeting" completed, right? No? Then the Judge WILL rule against your Corporation, by 'PIERCING THE VEIL' of your Corporation.
You know that, right? 'Pierce the veil'??? And then they do what? They Rule against your Corporation, and you are relegated to 'Sole Proprietorship status, and your Personal Assets are at stake. You got 15 acres and a mobile home? Brick home in town? Only an Apartment? ok...wtf ever. Got a paid off car? That truck, the main Asset of the Corporation, is it paid off? Big Equity in it? House? Land? You get my point. Now they will come after those Assets.
All for what? 'Beating the logbook'???
Hey, if you are going to be late, call up Dispatch and tell them you gotta change the time of delivery or pickup, because of what ever reason it is, is the reason, right?
They will, if they can. Just try and not do that every dang trip
or they might think you are a slacker! No matter what tho, is any cheating worth YOUR financial well-being? Think about it, people.
My answer is NO, it is not. So therefore, I will do my best to make the ontime work out. If it doesn't tho, I am not, I repeat am NOT going to worry about it and end up cheating on my logbook!!! NOT FOR ANY ONE time, ANY COMPANY, ANYONE, AT ANY TIME. Simple. This job is about ME. me, me ME ME ME ME when you really break it down.
Whenever trucking/congress decides I WILL NOT as a trucker, at any time, not be financially responsible ,,,,uh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that isn't going to happen. That is how it 'was', or so we thought. This is how it is, now.
When you 'break it down', our only defense as a Driver is to NOT cheat, then that is the only course of action we really can do, or we put our own Assets at risk. It is a simple, simple, simple solution.
(ok, now I'm ready for all the excuses to start...lol) Lay 'em on me thick and heavy. None of them will hold up in court, but on the CB Rambo channel, maybe they will.
Dryver, TLeaHeart and Poetry-in-Motion Thank this. -
Well, what do you know? I'm a truck driver again. After 2 weeks at the house I was starting to get used to not driving around the country. But all good things must come to an end and its back on the road again.
Crete turned me into a western regional driver for the last couple of weeks of 2010 to make sure I would be able to get home for Christmas vacation and it worked out perfectly. I was put on a short run out of Oakland down to LA for a Tuesday morning delivery. As soon as I delivered that load I was put on a load of aluminum cans going to Phoenix and I found myself in my own bed by Tuesday night a few days ahead of schedule.
So my one week vacation started three days early and when it came time to head back out on the road on January 1 they were short on loads. This is exactly what I had expected and hoped for and I managed to squeeze out a couple more days of home time by calling in for a load later in the morning than I usually do when trying to get a load during tight freight situations.
I was able to finagle a 2 week vacation before they finally cornered me with a load that didn't need to be picked up until the afternoon of the 4th and I begrudgingly climbed back into my home away from home and have been running hard ever since, until my truck decided to suddenly develop a number of problems that is. With 55,000 miles on my new truck, I now have a clutch fan that never wants to shut off (this is a very effective way to keep the engine block well below normal operating temperature). A side effect of this is that the truck no longer Regens(burns off excess exhaust soot) while driving down the road and I've had to do parked regens. What a pain in the backside that is .
On top of that my dome lights have taken to going on and off whenever they get the inkling to blind me in the middle of the night as I'm driving down the road. So they were summarily removed. Next thing I notice, the city horn no longer works and my air governor had decided that my air tanks never have enough air and the compressor only turns off for about 30 seconds at a time. So I'm spending a day in the shop.
I can't say that I'm too broken up by the whole thing though because I was under a load going to Ashtabula, OH and had to Tcall it because I wouldn't be able to make the Monday morning delivery. I wasn't worried about the drop delivery in Ashtabula, but the 2-3 stop load that I would have been put on out of that same customer would have sent me off to NY, NJ, Boston or Long Island. So I'm willing to loose a day of driving for a trade off like that.
Before starting off 2011, here are the last couple of weeks from 2010.

Bout time you showed up!

I've finally sat down and totaled up all the numbers for 2010.
Here's my mileage spreadsheet:
![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fi73.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi209%2Fevertrucker%2F2010%26%2337%3B20pics%2520from%2520the%2520road%2F2010MileageSpreadsheet-YearEnd.jpg&hash=193d1d31cb3742ad1336d0b9ad5c469c)
And here is the breakdown of the above spreadsheet:
![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fi73.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi209%2Fevertrucker%2F2010%2520pics%2520from%2520the%2520road%2FMileagebreakdownYearEnd2010.jpg&hash=2038b39ec7827651572a93830ab92677)
And my final paycheck for the year.
![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fi73.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi209%2Fevertrucker%2F2010%2520pics%2520from%2520the%2520road%2FFinalpaystubb2010b-1.jpg&hash=d90b953dc0e684faf8e99d02df1101bf)
And I guess I can go ahead and throw up my year end Monthly Mileage Report that the company puts up for us. The monthly mileage totals very from mine because I don't add miles to the monthly total until it is delivered and the company adds miles to the monthly totals as of midnight of the last day of the month. This causes monthly totals to differ somewhat, but the year end total is the same.
TLeaHeart, 53STEP, longbedGTs and 14 others Thank this.
