good grief, I thought roehl was anal on there fuel routes and where to fuel but swift wins the grand prize. Swift has you call in every time to put money on your fuel card thats crazy. If im low on fuel I always go to the fuel stop that is along the route but as indian said get away from congested areas if you can and then put on 40 to 50 gallons so you can stay on schedule to make your eta. remember you are driving the trk, not your fleet manager. good luck !
No food! No water or bathroom and expected to stay in truck

It's not that. It's the computer-generated fuel route. My point is if your fuel route doesn't seem to make sense, it probably doesn't and there are ways around it. Your time is worth money, too. Wasting it going back and forth in LA isn't going to make you any money.

Ok finally have time to post. I have been on some really sweet roads for the past few days. only seen an interstate for a short 30 minutes.
Started out on I5 then took a turn on 97 I believe almost all the way to 84 then to Sunnyside Washington. Really nice ride. As I was enjoying my ride this Schneider driver decided to get a few feet off my bumper. We where in Cali so I was doing 60MPH
He finally passes me and I say what a ### of a driver. get a few miles down the road and trooper has him pulled over. I laughed on this one teach u to ride my wagon. So I go about my way and look in the mirrors and see his white freight shaker closing in on me again. He rides my ### for about 20 miles and I had planned on stopping at the casino up there to spend the night as I was not familiar with where to stay.
But oh no since he was so close to me I could not take the chance and stop plus it was hard to see until you get right up on it. So we are now in Oregon and he finally passes me. About ten miles down the road I see a trooper and hahahahaha the same truck now he is getting two tickets in two different states within an hour.
I got on the CB and said serves ya right Schneider that will teach you to ride my tail. So I get to where I am suppose to UN load and they say are you willing to assist in the UN load because every Swift driver that comes in here does not want to. I said sure went over to where they wanted the cans and pulled all the pallets to the back of the truck. Took me a whole 30 minutes.
get a message on the qualcomm to dead head to Lewiston Idaho and get sent down 124 to 12 and so on. get there then they have me a load ready that delivers for a T-call in Sparks. Spent the night washing clothes because the stupid washer wont spin and had to wait for three hours for my clothes to dry.
get my route and it sends me down 12 to 95 south all the way to Sparks. No problem I thought. Come to find out you have to have a permit to drive some of that route and you have to have your tandems set at 37.9 feet or else it's $100 for every foot you are over.
Hmm I am picking up 44,600 pounds of paper how am I suppose to get the weight right? Well you are allowed 37,800 on your drives and I believe your trailer tandems as well but don't quote me on this. I am going from the paper I was handed.
Then when you get down to 84 I think you can set your weight up legal for Oregon and Nevada. Not a fun day after messing with all this plus at midnight last night found out my son ran away but he is OK now.
I get to 95 south and say wow this is beautiful but all of a suden the roads get narrow and shoulders vanish to huge ravines. WTF I drove through this for 280 miles and it took me all day. Then a #### duck decided to walk across the road right in front of me. I laid down on my air horn and at the last minute he turns. Lucky duck!
This is one route I will never forget and I think every Swift trainee needs to be sent down this route. This road should be mandatory for all new trainee's to go down at least once during there training. All the turns and 7% grades with three escape ramps and a speed limit of 35mph coming down it will teach them the proper way to come down a mountain in the right gear and to be extra careful while taking these turns.
It was definitely an experience and I still have 417 more miles of 95 to go. Was gonna do it tomorrow but I caught a mistake on my recap and oh hell I only have 5 hours to drive tomorrow. Now I have to do my 5 then wait til midnight when I get 11.
I have done already 1600 miles and it's only Friday so i should end up with around 3000 miles by Wednesday. Ran 3000 the past seven days and that is why I am tired and finally got the chance to post.
All and by the way I pulled into the Pilot where I had to fuel on empty!!! I was really really worried I was about to become stuck on a little skinny two lane out of fuel. the last 25 miles where stressful.
I don't know why they cannot get me a fuel route where I have fuel when arrive. I figured I would have enough to make it but did not expect the climbing the hills at 25mpg and all the other stuff because I have never been down 95.
So this will be the last time my truck goes below a quarter of a tank!!! I'm getting tired of this. Anyways hope everyone is doing fine and I think I am going to go to salt Lake City to relocate a trailer once I get there.
Be safe!Last edited: Apr 2, 2011

Sorry I have not updated in days! I have been so tired this week. They have been running me around in circles in California,Washington,Oregon,Utah,Nevada for almost three weeks now. Mountains and skinny ### little two lane curvy roads. Going from 95 degrees to 40 degrees then back into the heat again.
Really want to go back east now. last week I picked up and delivered seven loads in 7 days. Some where live loads and UN Loads and some where drop and hooks.
I ran 3400 miles and did one driver UN load. By far my best week so far. I was so tired the other night and my 14 was up close to Fonatana and Mira Loma that I decided to just park it at the Fontana yard when I was suppose to T-Call at Mira Loma.
I just knew where Fontana was and really did not have the time left nor the energy to drop and hook. My hours where up so oh well. went to bed around 5AM and DM calls me at 6AM saying get the tcall over there ASAP.
Get up and run it over there and then go back to Fontana to take shower and get some rest.
So DM calls me and always lets me know what kind of job I am doing and lets me know about my fuel mileage, out of route miles and so on. She says everything looks great. I have never had a service failure or any issues.
Today I get a message to make sure I stop by the ALB,NM terminal after I drop my load 20 miles from there and to call her and let her know when I am there.
Hmm what is this about? Hope the heck I am not getting fired I have not done anything wrong that I know of. Why do they want me to stop by the terminal?
Oh well I guess I will find out later today. I did get another pre-plan that picks up an hour after I get there and then has two stops all in the same day with it ending up in El paso.
So I have no idea I just always worry about my job because it took me so long to get one.
Anyways I will let you all know what happens tomorrow. Got to get some sleep been one heck of a week. The Challenger and scottied67 Thank this. -
