Injun Got a TICKET!!

It is my understanding you only get CSA points for an inspection. If you get a ticket for speeding no points, if you get get an inspection while being issued a speeding ticket points.

But maybe I'm confused.............again.

Been my experience that the best policy is to be very respectful, and if you don't like what's going on - just try to have a polite conversation with the officer.

Out there by the side of the road, they hold all of the cards, ticket book, gun...

Ya just can't win by getting postal with 'em - that's a quick trip to loosing fast. Injun did it right - and came away with a very slight ding to her pocketbook. It could have been a whole lot worse!

P.S. (for thread content): For the newbs, learn to read your suspension gauge(s) and what pressure corresponds to what weight... if ya gottem.

 

Sorry to hear it Injun, but appreciate your honesty. I know I've been a lot luckier than smart on more than one occasion, but it only cost me once....back in '01 in Ohio. I simply screwed up...had a load shift....40K on the steers! Scalemaster (a lady) was laughing, saying "you win the prize for the day!".

Somewhere in the area of $200 if I remember correctly....and these days, I seldom do...

Thank you Injun for this thread. I've always been careful about overweights like that, but I gambled recently on a heavy beer load in California where the tandems were set in the 5th hole back and 33,940 on the company scale. I just went with it to El Paso without getting a Catscale for more accuracy (didn't have any issues surprisingly) but it is good to know that they are not out to 'get' us with the CSA, just trying to do their jobs so we can do ours. Had a few run ins in my first year out here with DOT and law enforcement, accident, missing documents in the permit book, and a citation for illegal lane change-- not one of those incurred a CSA inspection thankfully.

I believe it comes down to the officer's first impression with the driver within 10 seconds whether (s)he's gonna do a CSA inspection or not. How one presents oneself, with bearing, attitude, confidence, an aura of professionalism, is going to dictate how much trouble you'll be in. Like you inferred, one should pick one's battles wisely otherwise could jeopardize their career.

Also was curious how you shifted the weight? Reverse to First? lol

 

Yep....and I'll wager that it will be a snowy July this year for sure as well.....
