When I came to this site just now I noticed that on the home page they have a link to their Ultimate Guide to Truck Driver Salaries by State and Specialty.
So, I checked it out briefly. Mississippi is the state that comes in #1 for salaries. Mississippi? Really?
Where does this information come from? It said that the data was compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Now, I know they probably have pleanty of people who are way smarter than I am but seriously, Mississippi? What I didn't see listed is WHY Mississippi tops this list. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against Mississippi but that state is not known for high paying jobs. They are, however, known for one of the higest poverty rates in the country.
I'd love to hear from others on this board as to their thoughs on this.
Highest paid drivers are from Mississippi - supposedly.

Numbers will confess to anything if tortured long enough!
No that is not mine, a guy on another board uses it but he is right.
I never pay much attention to anything with statistics in it because a good mathematician can convert a statistic to read exactly what it wants.JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
That'll all change next year when I move out of the state. I'm gonna take my truck driving fortune with me to Maine so Maine can be #1 for awhile.

Any type of government/industry publication...especially in regards to the trucking industry...should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Ya ck deeper. Roehl/MS carriers Paid awsome. Diddent make any$$ but pay sacle was awsome. THINK

71% of all statistics are made up.

Mississippi being the poorest state in the Union, they probably mean the truck drivers' earned dollar goes further compared to the cost of living there.
-
However 100% of fabricated statistics are used 50% of the time to reinforce lesser arguments

Well, I'll be ######. And here I am, thinking this whole time that there isn't much to stay in Mississippi for, and that I should leave. If I'd known this, perhaps I'd have never moved.

Love the feedback gang. Thanks. I don't pay too much serious attention to stats, as one suggested, I just thought it was interesting to see that information being put out there without much in the way of an explanation of where it came from, how they got it, etc.
JimDriv3r Thanks this.
