Wes-to-go in Tye,Tx I believe have some of the best brisket and ribs you can find on the highway. The brisket is so tender you can almost cut with a plastic fork. And the beef ribs are soooooo meaty and tender. It's well worth the stop. The cook if you catch him outside working the smoker is one heck of a nice guy to chat with. When you walk in it's almost like you took a step back in time to an "old school truck stop".

I dunno if its listed because I havent read through all the pages, but Dysarts in Bangor Maine is a neat old truckstop. Full service fuel islands too!! I didnt know what to do with myself having my truck fueled for me!

You know the Wes to go is older than the interstate. There's an old aerial photo on the wall by the restaurant register showing this. The front of the building used to face south when it was originally built along US80 and was remodeled and reversed when I-20 was built.
Their chicken fried steak is the best you'll find anywhere.
I'm sure their not the oldest surviving truck stop but their defiantly one of the oldest. -
This is great...I love truck stops...thought all the old and good ones where gone.

im suprized no one said mr waffle in cowspen sc i85x83, has a old school feel it, 175x29 Monroe oh(if its still open remember it was good a few years ago but the last time i was there was almost dead inside). most of the good mom & pops are shutting down or bought out by pilots and TAs.

I always stop at the 106 (?) small truckstop with a Krystal's LOL I am a chili-cheese fries and Krystal junkie

It's old, that's for sure: Exit 44 truck Stop, Prescott, AR. Free coffee with fuel purchase and all of 3 times I stopped there the fuel register lady was surly. What more could you want!
I intentionally stop there on the military vehicle road trips rather than the modern place across the street (Loves?), but that's just me.
It's yard is/was worn and the pros may not like it but it was OK for my little deuce and no one was in a hurry. No lot lizards or bums either so that was a plus, not saying you shouldn't watch your stuff tho'.
I'd say for a tank of fuel, restroom, and a cup of decent hot coffee it would be quicker in/out than the big lots.
Guess it was quite a place in its day.Attached Files:

Off 95, Fort Pierce, Fl...there are three stops... TA, Love's, and Pilot i believe...Now it ain't really a greasy spoon like back in the day, But its got an old school crome shop that looked really cool...a bit congested to. But hell if you down in South Florida its the only place to stop...Ain't nothing else here...
