I have not drove OTR since 03 and been driving local. All the companies that I talked with said I have to do the whole 4 to 6 to 8 weeks.

That's because they don't know if you're good enough or not. USA will send you out with a trainer and if he feels you can handle the truck then they will move you to solo. No need training someone who doesnt need it when they have students going home waiting for trainers to come back.

Good enough? Have any you been to the FMCSR website? Type in USA Truck DOT # and look at the2011 violations. Unreal how crappy we can be. No wonder the star on our truck is more like a "bullseye" for DOT inspectors. It seems as though even with training we have people not wearing seatbelts and the like. Unreal.

All the trucks are climate controlled. To what climate is another story. There is an idle policy. Most trucks have an apu........unless you get an old dog like I have.

ICON Idle. I have heard horror stories about that. One guy said his idle percent was like 60% and they won't fix his ICON. Supposed to be less than 25.

If they won't fix it, then it isn't his fault, it is theres. If it didn't work then only thing left to do is make it where it idles all the time...

Its not that they won't fix the Icon Idle, its that they don't have enough technicians that understand how it works. I was told by the Service Manager in West Memphis that the company only has four certified people to work on the unit.
