My 9400 idles all the time. There is a trick.....it doesn't even show on the QC that the truck is idling. You can also read the QC while driving, using this trick. No......I wont tell the secret.

rolltide...C1 and training is a long process...only advice I have for you is make sure u are committed to becoming a driver and a driver for USA truck for 1 year...if u have any doubt that u cannot keep a commitment for 1 year with USA truck get out now...or you will have to pay for the C1 school yourself....which is approx. $6000...and your 1 year commitment to USA truck does not begin when you start school but the day you get your own truck...I have worked for USA for 8 months now...I cannot say they whether they are a great company or bad one...all I can say is that itss what you make of it through your time management and dealing with people...Best advice I can give you is once you get your own truck and Fleet Manager...for your first 90 days...dont complain about loads, miles, and delays...your Fleet Manager ways out youy potential your 1st 90 days...during those 90 days develop good communication with your Fleet Manager and try to stand out and look better than your peers, always be on time or early for pick ups and deliveries...The key to a successful time at USA is the relationship between you and your Fleet Manager. If you act like everyone else they are going to treat you like everyone else at USA...If you stand out...you will get good loads and good miles. Hope I have given you plenty of advice...if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them...Good Luck
venne, goodchoice10 and TruckerOwens Thank this. -
Wrong... You don't pay back $6000... You pay back $700 in tuition, $400 in hotel cost, $300 in DOT physical charges and additional charges of around $50 for your background check and your permit and ####. There is a reason your endorsement tests are free while in class.
That $6000 turns into over $12,000 owned to the school after you total it all up and included their 18% interest rate. Also note that it is a SCHOOL LOAN and you cannot file bankruptcy on it.
Either fully commit, or don't bother signing up cause you will just waste your time, and the instructors time. -
WRONG you actually pay back a bit over $1800. This is taken out a bit every week till you finish your first year. The company pays the rest of the cost. The total of a bit under $6000 TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION THE INTEREST. This is all covered by the agreement you sign the first day at C1.
Also that statement about Bankruptcy is NOT an absolute. There are some exceptions that take into account hardships. -
Read the contract (pg 2) "If I complete my training I will owe DS the full tuition of $5995. After I become a first seat driver for the "carrier", $45/weekly will be deducted from my pay. This will continue for until I reach ONE FULL YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT and at least $1995 is in my employee savings account. If I am terminated or quit for ANY REASON, voluntary or involuntarily the tuition of $5995 will become payable upon demand. Any monies being held in my name by DS in my employee savings account will be applied and I will owe the remaining balance in full on demand.
Pg 9 of the contract states: "If the borrower completes 12 consecutive months of employment with the carrier (as such term defined in the enrollment agreement) DS will provide Borrower. A tuition credit of $4000, making total tuition I am responsible for $1995.
According to USA Truck, your employment anniversary date is the date you complete the upgrade to your own truck. So 12 months from that date your on the line for the contract. People have quit here and have tried to get away from paying, to no avail. USA and DS are one in the same. Your not going to get away. You can be terminated, with or without cause, and are still liable.
Frank is not wrong. If your thinking about USA/DS, do your homework. There is a point of no return and if your not committed you will pay. Plan and simple. Don't be fooled by people saying there is a way around it cuz its just not so.joeycool Thanks this. -
And as for the instructors.....what a joke. Knowing what I know now, clearly a choice I would carefully reconsider. I appreciated the range instructors, the rest were wasting my time. All the rah rah stuff about finishing fast so you can go earn money. BULL! Its so they don't have to spend anymore than they have to on you. Its a business, not an accredited school.
USA is ok for me. I got a good FM which from what I've seen and experienced is 90% of the battle. Do your homework. Do your homework. -
You gotta take DS for what it is. They are there to get you your license, nothing more. They sweeten it up, w/ talk of trying to get you to work faster, but of course they are just making room for the next group of 50+ students coming in next week...That's only $300,000 per week they are making, but if you are in the way, then they got to spend $40 on a hotel and that will destroy there profit, which they are barely clearing any as you can see above...lol
I liked the instructors # C1. I hope I get to go back by there and tell them thanks for the things they taught me. It is very fast paced, but there isn't much you need to learn to get your CDL, which is what you do. You get your training # USA, PAM, or CRST after you leave there. My first trainer told me, whatever they told you # C1, forget it. There job was to get you here, my job is to train you to be a safe and productive driver. -
I liked instructors at C1, I just think the school thing is over priced and under taught. The range is where you learn anything. Either way, I only spent 9 days at C1 total so maybe I didn't have enough time to develop a relationship with those folks. Same as my (3) trainers, I spent a total of 16 days with all of them combined, no relationship there either. However, I did meet a trainer, who was not my trainer, and we became friends and remain in contact. I guess I use him as a source of information when I have the need.
I have a good relationship with my FM, at the end of the day he impacts me the most. -
what if someone has the CDL, just needs a refresher course, been away 7 years, what would be the cost for this, here in pittsburgh,pa is this a good place for USA for hometime
-
If you have USA pay for 100% of the "refresher" course (aka full cdl course thats about 1-1.5 weeks shorter) then you will be under a 1 year contract. If you pay for a refresher course yourself then no contract of course.
