I start on July 11th. Just wondering if anyone else here starts on that day and what advice you can give me. I have a class B CDL and have driven charters, school busses and such. I know Class A is going to be a different ball game.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. From what I remembered of their school they definitely teach you how to drive a truck. Instructors were pretty cool and the road test was a breeze. Double clutching is a bit difficult at first however once u learn it, it's learned for good. I dont know about them as a company I changed companies after training however when you're a "noob" you need to get in where u fit in. Any questions ask away and again welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. I am 36 this year. I've been reading all I can about Stevens and its seems that it will be a good fit for me. I just hope I get a good trainer and I will be happy. So see you guys on the road!

I worked for Stevens back in 1998-2000 and I didn't have any issues other than being out 6-7 weeks and having to beg, borrow or steal to get home. I wasn't married at the time but still. The small fleet I work for now gets us home every week and with my wife and kids that's a plus.

Two weeks ago I was planning on starting on July 5th. But I don't have enough saved up to go 3 or more weeks without money until graduation. I spoke with driver solution this morning and they understood. They said to call back when I am ready. Now I'm looking at other community colleges. None are close to where I am. Will PAM only accept accreditited schools? I'll have to call them.

OH, man I'm even getting my schools mixed up. I'm looking into Stevens school now. Does Stevens accept a community college graduate? The information they E-Mailed to me had nothing about the school. What name is the school under? I understand it's the same company.

Stevens was driving me nuts until I told them I got my CDL from another school. They couldn't place me into their servitude.

    They are scum.

I guess if they can't charge you $9000 for a CDL, your not of much use to them. :biggrin_2559:
