Yes, I believe I've taken that route before...it's fine...and serves as a convient short cut for many drivers...instead of having to drive all the way up I-77, and then over on I-70...
It's a some what more scenic route, with a few curves and hills...and I believe a few rest areas as well...
This time of the year, you'll be perfectly fine...just watch out for the Amish buggies...

Thanks ghostchild. We used I-77, we thought it was going to be better....but still driving...

I used to run that way a lot. In WV, it's a two lane, a bit on the narrow side, but nothing you can't handle. The only restaria I recall, is on the north side of 35 around Jefferson Ohio, but there is a decent size Valero around there as well, between Cillico and WV, can't recall the town, but it's there on the south side.
longhaulgf Thanks this. -
they've just done a ton of work on the wv side. used to be a super narrow, super fun 2 lane curvy hilly road that followed the river (that was very susceptible to springtime flooding) but they've moved it over and up into the hills and made a whole lot of it 4 lanes. your gps will freak out!
if i'm under 60k i also like taking rt22 into pittsburgh off of 77. -
Thx for the info!!! -
Looks like you got your answer(s). You can also use road conditions under the state heading state of Pennsylvania or the other 49. State troopers are a good source and D.O.T is another good source. Plus since they are the agencies that oversee the roads and weather conditions. Accidents and construction zones. They are the people with the most reliable and up tp date info. Better than word of mouth. You can also find out bridge closings and so much more. While some people think of there agencies get in an accident and you will be grateful they are there

I've driven US-35 many many times. Parts of it are still curvy and narrow. It's a little better now than what it used to be. Before you'd have to take it into town and turn right at a stoplight and follow that road to I-64 (it's the same road the TA is on in Hurricane)
On the Ohio side there are 2 rest areas I remember and one truck stop. On the WV side if you need a rest break there's an adult store with truck parking.
Don't forget to blow your air horn when driving by the golf course! (especially if someone's about to take a shot) -
I have not been on it for several years now so I don't know about the improvements. It was a decent two lane in WV. Alot of LTL traffic so it was fairly fast unless you got behind a newbee or mom and pop in their RV. Passing took a lot of cahonies!! Because it follows the Kanawa river, fog was thick at times. When you pass the truckstop going south watch for the slip where the road has been paved over many times as it will put you and everything in your truck in the air if you hit it too fast.[don't ask me how I know] hardly any Speed cops on the WV. part., but in Ohio especially around the truckstop mind your speed, they won't cut you any slack.
