    Officially quit today. The fleet manager wasn't to happy about no early notice, but now I'm free :).

    she does not do the truck assignments......she is the new (upgrade) liason, and that only lasts for the first 90 days. Whomever the wizard is that assigns the truck remains a mystery.

    If Karen was assigning trucks to new drivers, people would not sit after upgrade.

    You, I and WrightRacing kept things going for a while....now we are all gone, so is the driver of 2048 (my buddy) he turned in his truck today in Spartanburg.

    I think this company's biggest problem is C1. Not to say that everybody who goes thru C1 is bad but it is just a CDL mill. Basically if you can pass the dot physical and the license test, sign your DS contract and you're hired. They just keep the flood gates open and keep em coming. I guess Driver Solutions cleans out the local soup kitchens and reform schools and ships em out. C1 "Okey doke" trains em and they get their money, USA hires em and gets their government grant, then the kid trashes a truck while changing CDs and texting so Driver Solutions gets to sue them to the point that they'll never finance a piece of bubble gum again in their life.

    I seriously do believe it's the continuous crop of bad drivers this company hires that makes it a bad place to work. I think it's a "trickle around" effect where everybody gets a little Piss on their boots. The turd new fires screw all kinds of things up and damage equipment so the insurance says all the trucks have to go slow. They screw around and run late loads all the time so we lose customers. Dispatchers who are college trained to deal with logistics and supply chain are forced to become babysitters to idiot overgrown children which makes them bitter to the Point where they don't want to deal with any driver thus they end up quitting or getting fired. Then the few good drivers in the company get fed up when they are harassed by Safety or Fuel Economy departments because they are catching a shotgun blast aimed at the whole fleet. All by some 20 somethings fresh out of college, whose experience with trucks is limited to the new Cascadias they can see out their office window, trying to tell a veteran driver to exPlain why on two occasions last week he was over RPM and one time yesterday he had a hard braking event.

    Bottom line is, most of the problems stem from the trainees. Of course this is a training company so that's not going to change but I think instead of outsourcing they should move to all in-house training the way Schneider does. Teach them to do things the USA way from dAy one.

    I thought the Cascadias were going back because those trucks need to drive over 65 or they have issues and USA will not give new guys more than 60. That is what I was told when I was there.

    I went through C1. I also have been to talk to a couples other schools. They are all doing the same thing. I had to teach students in my class how to back up a trailer.

    I stopped driving a little over a year ago but I think I might have just found the one for me. For now.. LOL. I am in the middle of my 2 weeks of orientation and training to load cars and today I got to meet the entire main office all the way up to #1. I have never had a company do that before. Older truck for now and alot of work but will be more money I think. We'll see.

    Stick around green machine. If your upfront and diplomatic with your FM or higher they will work with you. If your equiptment is shotty take it to phoenix or Chicago both of those shops will get it sorted out.

    Chicago is the only place I liked to go to get things fixed, they were the only ones that were fast and didn't have to return to get the same thing repaired. But getting the load coordinators to listen to you or your FM is basically impossible. I was upfront with my FM when I quit, I don't like how USA is handling things and it just brought way to much stress into my (young) life. My FM was good (for the 3 weeks I had her), USA on the other hand... needs to change a few things around.

    Well I stopped by Roanoke today to do the Winter Safety class. It was informative and well taught. I also experienced my first Driver Appreciation Day. Food was good and I enjoyed the experience enough that I almost dilly dallied to the point of going over my hours on the way to drop load in PA. By the way, Roanoke has a new manager. I was never impressed with that terminal before but this being my second visit this month I can say he has the mechanics in overdrive and is turning the place around. He has also been making an effort to visit the lounge to tell the drivers he has been trying to get the Internet fixed.
