It would seem that not everyone in Washington DC actually has the best interest of our nation in mind. ...too bad they're in charge.
Don't forget to vote and remind your neighbors...unless they're stupid...we don't need them voting...again. -
It's no surprise that republicans would do something like this. Republicans are for big business and their track record proves that.
-
I'm I missing something here? Do you want the driveing time reduced to 10 hr out of 24? How about that confuseing reset rule?
Unless I read that wrong those 4 Republicans want things to stay as they are! I admit I'd like to see a clock stopping nap rule tossed in if changes are to be made BUT NOT THE PROPOSED CHANGES. -
I don't have a problem with what they're doing and one truck is far from big business. If your in the petroleum business the Republicans are helping you out far more than the Dems ever will.
You in the free cheese crowd?
There was one thing mis-stated in the article, the part about now being limited to driving 11 hours in a 24 hour period. -
I'm happy with HOS the way it is currently. I'm happy these lawmakers are happy with it too and care enough to intervene if FMCSA tries to change HOS.
Injun Thanks this. -
Don't fall into the political party fighting game. Dem or Rep, they don't care about you. They only care about $$ and playing the parties against one another is how they remove you from the equation.
Linte_Loco, Drivin_Dave, Tazz and 3 others Thank this. -
Unfortunately most Americans have fallen for it. They have us right where they want us. And it's been that way for a long time.

The only one who removes YOU from the equation IS you! Do you vote or not. I' m a newbie and I see the bill from a mixed point of view. It may give me a job (more drivers) but I'll make less money ( 10 hrs vs 11 ) and everything will cost more (more trucks and drivers=more transport cost passed to the consumer) sooo I'll take my chances the way things are. As a newbie for Swift the proposed changes could cost me $60 a wk. That's 3k roughly a year. That's a new (to me) Jeep! And I can't enjoy it parked in some truck stop cause it takes me longer to deliver my load an get home!
And , as a company driver, you are part of "big business". The little caterpiller legs that keep the big worm moving!

Some of the proposed rule changes make no sense and are contrary to the stated goal of more rest for drivers. How does limiting the number of restarts a driver can take give drivers more rest? I doubt that this will ever be resolved until it is actually in law passed by both chambers of congress and signed by the president. Even then I wouldn't doubt that the safety groups and teamsters would challenge the law in court just like they did the current rules.
