Any way - my question is - now that we are leased and can use line 5 I have a question (or 3)...

    1) is there a time limit you can be on line 5?
    2) can I use line 5 even if I've been dispatched for a load, but haven't picked it up yet as long as I'm not heading to pick up my load... such as heading to the store or other running around.

Ok - just 2 questions... and thank you in advance for any answers..

There are no time or mileage restrants for line 5.
but, your company may impose restriction on its use as co.policy.
as a policy you would have to abide by it regardless of the regs.AS LONG AS THEIR POLICY WAS LAWFUL
there is something about advancing to your next load though someone posted the link from the regs awhile back.
Its under personal conveyance. there is as i remember 3-4 paragraphs on this guidance.
if you cant find it in the book you can look up any dot office (listed in front of your atlas) call them they well explain it and or tell where to find it in the book.

I've heard of drivers dropping their loaded trailer at a secure company terminal then bobtailing out for personal business or to take 34 hour breaks at home or hotel then returning to finish their load to customer. I wouldn't recommend dropping the trailer at the truck stop even if they are OK with it. That is an unsecured location.

You'd be better off asking the logs department at your company. They know your companies procedures, we don't.

I can only use line 5 for a safe place to park, if needed. I can never use it when disptched under a load, unless i cant find a safe place to park. If im not dispatched and on personal use...I can use it as i please.

I can use line 5 when dispatched with a load, I just can't advance towards the shipper.
