When I was at RDTC couple of weeks ago, I asked one of the instructors about the APU's and he said that they have some but right now they are just testing to see if its something they want to invest in.

I wish more companies had them for their company drivers its gotta suck sweating your arse off trying to sleep, unless they actually let you idle
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
It's actually a safety hazard if you're not getting your rest. A DOT guy told me that one. Schneider had me sweatin' in an oldie (cab over) back in the beginning of my trucking days at Lake Havasu one night. 110 degrees . No idling. Can't believe I put up with that ####. Never again ! Now companies have opti idle to wake ya up when it turns on. Makes you a bad neighbor in the truck stop. If these #### company owners had to live the way truckers do, I'll bet they'd find better ways. APUs are the best way IMHO .

Is this what you are talking about?
The AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), formerly known as Fusion, is the marketing term for a series of 64-bit microprocessors from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), designed to act as a central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) on a single die. -
Yeah ! APU

My old Roehl truck (a 2007) had a Tripac, but those trucks were nearing retirement even then. Most of the new trucks they were purchasing at the time though, some of which may still be floating around, had battery powered systems.

OK Thanks for the info sir ! Crete used to have APUs then went to the Opti Idle . I heard the APUs had too much maintenance involved.
