I was referring to the holding up traffic on the on-ramp part. Sorry I didn't specifically clarify that. But that was nice how you got a little creative in order to blame another driver as being part of the problem. Bravo!

As for speeding in the truck stops, Really makes me wish I had a baby carriage to roll out in front on them. Could you imagine the look on their face for the few seconds they think they ran a baby over?

I didn't mean for it to sound like I was blaming you, but your post made it sound like you meant in the parking lot, not the ramp.

This is a touchy subject for me because I almost watched a child get run over in a parking lot one day. Her dad helped her out of the truck and she started walking toward the front of the truck while he climbed back in the cab to get something. I know, the dad was wrong for doing this, but the guy that went flying by was still in the wrong. The little girl stopped and he barely missed her. He was at the exit and gone before I could even get out of my truck.

Good comment about the baby stroller.

    Man oh man....
Sure stepped on some toes with my "humorous" post... didn't I.

Yep, they need to realize that "almost hitting" someone (especially a wife) can lead to serious cranial damage to THEM.

As far as pulling the 5th wheel latch.....

One of my normal activities is sitting at the wheel talking on the phone and just looking/watching all the "activity".

If i saw someone pull the pin lock on anothers' truck, I might be inclined to use their head to hammer it back into locked position.

That is the work of a lowlife POS, and should NEVER be tolerated or allowed to pass.

    NO.

The driver is NOT under the control of company when out on road.
And SNITCHES are a dyin breed... in some circles.

Nothing but "peer pressure" works on these morons.
Give em hell when you see it happening.
Don't hold back cause you think they might get mad or offended.

And it is NOT a "game".

You'll feel different when some idiot wheels into a parking lot at 35+mph and misses your truck and walking wife by 2 feet.
Didn't lose my temper while "talking" with "swifty", but I did mean it when I told him I'da killed him without remorse..... WITH ALL MY HEART.

Those of us NOT pulling a van trailer would like to argue that fact. Try getting a 80 ton loader on a lowboy over a speed bump. There is more to trucking than open/close 2 doors and hold a steering wheel.

Some of these drivers can't do real fast on highways so I guess they think going fast through a parking lot makes them somebody...well guess what..it does..

A fool. There's no excuse in the world for driving fast in any parking lot.

Most places you are correct, but that is why you always carry a jug or two of laundry soap. Pour it down and slide right over it !!

Lets talk speeds. I never really thought about it much. And could not have given a number when I made my first post. Put I paid attention to it yesterday. I have my truckstop cruising gear and rpm, Its just one I go into without even thinking about it. But this time I paid attention to how fast I was going. 8mph. To be less exact 5-10MPH depending on the situation. This is the speed I have been using for years, and do without even thinking about it. Its what feels right to me. At this gear and RPM, it gives me the oportunity to quickly slowdown, or speed up a little, basicaly easy to adjust my speed for the situation. Granted there are several situations where a slower speed (lower gear) is required, (higher traffic, ruffer road, people walking around, tight corners, tight spaces). Also there have been situations where lots have been empty, and going around the back 40 or a double wide travel lane and I can get it up a gear. So what speed do you guys think would be the average speed limit? What do you think would be speeding for the various situations.

And for those always pointing out about there wife almost geting hit, Noticing a pattern here?

I mean really if you find yourself constantly almost geting hit in the parking lot your not paying attention as much as the driver was not paying attention. If your going to walk across the drive way and there is a truck coming. Dont just start walking. make eye contact, and see if he is going to slow and let you pass, or you need to wait for him to pass. The curtosy that most of us drivers give to walking people is not required.
