I use my regular wire/side cutters and cut a few strands at a time.

 

Another good trick you can use if you lose/mis-place your wire cutters is take your tire thumper, or long sturdy screwdriver and just twist it. It will take a good 5 or 6 twists but they will start breaking the strands of wire with each twist.

seems i have been side lined thanks to the new dot rules, with sleeping disorders. Also known as sleep apnea. so now i sit unemployed and no money. gotta love trucking. as the wonderful fine hr dept says there isnt much they can do to help. so looks like im gonna be down till mid january 2012. oh well......life sucks ###

Well someone didn't tell California it was Christmas. Because they are open.

 

Use a 2 pound hammer to hit the pliers and cut right thru that cable in about 3 whacks.

 

Whoa hold up, what "new rules" or is this just a JBS thing?

 

If you still have health insurance i would go and have a sleep study done and get a cpap machine that will be set to your test results. The new machines have a chip in them to monitor your useage which according to the DOT is i believe 60% a night. I guess that works out to 4.8hrs a night that you should have to use it. It's going to take awhile to get an average reading,maybe a month.If you cannot afford a sleep study, i believe Marten out of Mondovi Wi will do them for cheap from what i hear, thats if you would get hired on with them.Just curious, did you have to go in for a recert or something and they measured your neck? kind of both, i got hit with having to do this retarded sleep test bacause of my neck size. but from the people in colorado has said anyone gettng or renewing as of jan 01st 2012, if you have a bmi of 35 or more you will have to get checked for sleep apnea. where i just did my test it cost $2,800 bucks for the test. i now have a $300 bill for that night, i go back on dec29th to sleep with a stupid machine. and then i gotta get the machine and get it home and sleep with it for 2 weeks to show compliance and then i might be able to get back on the road. so im looking at being out of work till around the end of jan or beginning of feb....no money no nothing all thanks to fmcsa and dot.....thanks alot to the federal government..
