I've only had my truck broken into once in my entire career...I wasn't in it though.
Truck stops? Man oh man...too bad we can't call them for what they are
Case of drinks bought 1 drink at a time (20 oz Mtn Dew)..... $34...same case at Wal-Mart $5-10 depending on whether they are on sale. OH! And they are 24 oz bottles.
ATM Fees $3.95 and up....then they tell you "it ain't ours" when it **** up. Yeh right.
Cup of coffee $1.49 average cost PER GALLON 64 cents buying it from the local grocery store and brewing it yourself. http://www.####eyed.com/inside/coffee/coffee.html
15 inch flat screen $400 plus because you get a DVD player with it...Wal-Mart it cost less than $190...add the cost of a DVD $30...you get the idea.
Your a truck driver now !!! Bend over and grab your ankles. -
One does get tired of hearing cops beating their chests over the risks they take to "keep us safe"... Next time you fuel up remember to thank the cashier for serving his community at great personal risk...

Working at a cash register is probably the last job I would want to do. That is the first place a crackhead goes when they need some quick cash for a quick fix.
Truck driving is nowhere near as dangerous as some make it out to be. There are certain areas that are more dangerous than others, but for the most part, I don't worry at all about my safety out on the road. -
No, usually drivers aren't (usually) victimized on the road, but once you leave the road, (like a truckstop) anything can happen. I have seen drivers mugged, get beat up, harrased by lot lizzards (pee bottles work great to get rid of them), etc.

I pulled into a truckstop in PA one day where a trucker had JUST been shot to death...why? because he was getting robbed and only had $4 in his pocket, it pissed the perp off so he killed him...over a measly $4. This is NOT the first time this has happened in truckstops either. A LOT of people think truckers carry a lot of cash on them and see them as an easy target. What they don't know is technology has changed that and MOST carry little cash these days and use credit cards now.
-
heck, even me as a Fedex driver here in Houston has had my truck broke into. I guess people think we carry cash, but like the earlier post states..Its debt card city for me. Rob me you better have a online money withdrawl machine with you..We just need to constantly be aware of our surroundings and not put ourselves in situations where bad things can happen..If robbed..fake a heart attack or poop on yourself..that'll scare them away !!

There was a man hi-jacked in his truck at the truckstop in Lubbock by two men with guns. They made him drive around out on county roads and driver told them that his truck was equipped with GPS, that he was late and they would have his location. They let the driver go and only stole some of his stereo equipment etc.
