I got a ticket on I 80 west bound about 100 miles past the Nevada border. There was a sign that said "ALL TRUCKS MUST STOP" for a brake check. I and another truck did not stop and we werer pulled over. I need to know should I find a lawyer who specializes in CA tickets? Can this ticket be reduced? Is it worth fighting? Can someone refer me to an attorney? Serious replies only please.

    Thank You

What was the ticket? Failure to obey a traffic control device?

When you get your notice in the mail regarding bail/fine one of the options is "Trial by Declaration". You submit the bail amount and file a declaration with the court. If the judge finds you guilty, you have an opportunity to appeal and have a regular trial. You may want the attorney for the real trial.

I received a citation for lane violation just west of there in 2009. I filed the declaration, the citing officer did not follow up with a response to the court and the ticket was dismissed. Always worth a shot. Yes, I did get my bail refunded. The process took nearly 6 months

I would get an attorney, it's a bs ticket and he might not show up to court. I can't refer to a attorney in that area though.

Here's the deal if the cop shows up your going to lose, as far as getting it reduced it's probably not going to happen in CA on a commercial ticket.

hmmm. Ive done that, good thing i didnt get caught. I did get my first ticket ever with my CDL last Easter in CA..of all places, CALI! ugh. I was on I-5 N leaving out of the Fraiser Park Flying J or Pilot, cant remember what it was now. I was in 6th gear coming off the on-ramp (I knew i was coming down the vine at this point), as soon as i get in the lane, I see a cop nxt to me telling me to pull over with the other truck he was pulling over. WTF!? so he pulls both of us over, comes up asks for my papers and all, goes to the other truck, then to his car. comes back, hands me a ticket and says i was doing 65 in a 55. LIKE HELL I WAS! I wasnt even in 7th because I knew I would have to dwn shift since i was about to hit a 45 and 35 and grade. Ahole! I ended up paying $520 for that ticket.... He knew I would nt come all the way back to fight it...... I HATE CALI

I stop at all those Truck Brake Check areas even though I see just about every other truck blow right down the hill by them. With the Elogs it is very easy, switch status to On Duty, make a note, Brake Check, count to 100 then proceed. 7/8ths of a mile later the logs will auto switch to driving. I have seen a couple trucks with their brakes smoking hot, they got pulled over and I guess put oout of service and logs checked.

will my company know about the ticket if i dont inform them? they say i have to inform them with 24 hours but i have not been found guilty or plead guilty yet. before getting the ticket i planned on finding another job when my contract ends in march. the court date is a month later. if i inform the company i might very well get terminated. i am on thin ice with them.

    Thx
