Can any of you drivers ever see anything positive in what comes to USA Truck as a compliment to our service. If you drivers would put forth as much effort as you do complaining about everything and anything and drive your truck and provide better customer service by being professional(1) when you arrive to our customers, maybe we would see an increase in millage and freight.
(1) Professional: characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2) : exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace

Actually I *WAS* A USA driver, and I got tired of cleaning up other driver's messes, making excuses for dispatch's screw ups, and pretty much being a number in the system (and don't even get me STARTED on the overnight dispatchers!)
I left, took my chances and by pure dumb luck (I admit) ended up at a smaller Mom & Pop company where I have personal relationships with several of our top accounts. If there's a problem with a load they call ME. If there's a situation that needs fixing they call me. If they want something done above & beyond they ask and I accomodate to the best of my ablity.
At USA if I had a problem the "corporate response" was "Shut up and drive!"
And news flash, an internet trucking board is WHERE we come to kvetch! Not at a customer. So obviously it's gonna sound a lot worse here than in the real world. -
I can agree with all of what you said Infosaur, I too get sick of cleaning up other drivers messes but what scares me, beyond the forms as I do know these are the venting rooms, is the way some of the drivers present to customers. The driver showing up to a customer should be in casual apparel, well maintained self-image, and able to be a professional even if they had a bad day. I don't understand why its hard for people to tough up a fake smile while you are providing face-to-face transactions with any member of a customers staff regardless to what they say to you. I left a good management job to explore a new career and I personally feel it is my job as the driver and the "customer service agent" to kiss the customers ### and leave a positive impression so we can improve our mileage and the company can impress its shareholders.

This guy is talking "effort" to us. This is too funny.

Yeah, but it all "O'Doule's".

You are right about personal appearance. I am SO sick and tired of seeing people get out of the truck looking like trash, not having showered in 5 days and please for Christ sakes, leave the socks and shower shoes for the truck only!!!!!! Look professional and you would be surprised how you will be treated professionally

I'm not sure how this thread morphed into this subject, but I'll add something to it. last night at the Chex TS in Henderson NC I ran into someone like this. Yesterday (saturday) I finally got finished at the Walmart DC there and went inside to eat, about 5 minutes later a guy entered I won't get into what he smelled like but I lost my appetite went to the c-store got a candy bar and went to my truck. I don't know for sure if he was a trucker but he had a Peterbilt hat on.
