Ok, it's almost 11:00 PM, the TV Olympic opening ceremonies are almost over. We live on a dead end street about 3 blocks long in a small group of one story duplexes. There is a small curve half way up the street, and a small "circle" at the end. There's enuf room in the circle for the garbage truck to lift the dumpster and dump it, and then with only a couple of back and forths, he can turn around....
So why at this late hour, do we hear the sound of an 18 wheeler...hooked up to what appears to be a 48" (at least) grain style or other type of open top trailer....
He's attempting to turn around in the circle. Hmm... the neighbor's SUV is parked right in front of the house, we're beating on her door trying to wake her up, so luck.
Either the driver is a total dumb ### ..hey, not only is our street marked "No outlet". but the cross street is marked "NO through trucks",
or the world's best driver.
He did finally get turned around, came really close to wiping out an SUV, 4 mailboxes and a pickup, with only minimal damage to the grass.... where they've just installed new lawn sprinklers....
Too bad my camera cant' take piccys in the dark....Has to be an O/O, both the truck and trailer had a TON of yellow marker lights.... too dark to read if any info was on the cab door....
Now, my question ( ok, I already KNOW the answer...) is... when he got far enough up the street to see there was no room.... WHY didn't he just back out?
The cross street has very little traffic , and one of his buddies was sitting there in a pickup waiting for him to get out.....
Where are the cops when you need them?
Hope everyone has a good night and a better tomorrow!

Maybe his gps told him to go that way. lol. Ive heard of drivers backing up a mile to get out of a jam. If something doesn't look right, I just don't do it. But I have ended up on some streets where I wasn't supposed to be, with my trailer "trimming" the trees.

OH.. forgot to say in my first post... the street is about 2.5 lanes wide, with cars parked on BOTH sides at all times....
It's not a cross street.. you have to turn into the street.... period....

I come really close to wiping out 4 wheelers on every right turn, you say this like almost is a bad thing. If that were the case I would be a real bad boy.

I see wannabe in your profile? Does that mean You are going to be a trucker someday? Cause paybacks are hell lol. It takes about two seconds for that kinda stuff to happen to ya. Including going to a non truckig friends house who tells ya "Oh yeah man, there is a great place to turn around at the end of the street HUGE cul de sak, no problem. His buddy has probably turned his 16' bass boat around there a million times, and thinks a semi can too, no problem lol. That stuff can happen to a trucker in the blink of an eye, and none of it is easy to get yourself out of. And Nobody and I mean NOBODY ever wants to help ya get out of that mess.
the gambler, AZS and Raiderfanatic Thank this.
