Giggs, So who's going to drive now? You're both going to be waaay to tired after your break...

Back home for the weekend. Update ref my mom... she's been released from the hospital (again). The surgery was called off again. Seems doc was concerned that she may have a heart-attack after the surgery. (No doc, those occur only after receiving the bill for the surgery). My brother and I think mom may have had a large play in this. I'm happy that she's well enough to be released, but I fear this will be repeated in another couple of weeks, if that long.

So anyway, didn't need to take time off, and dispatch then sends me on a run requiring an overnight stay, Thursday night. I spent it in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Great Bend, KS. Very popular place for driver's to stay. I arrived there at 5pm, had plenty of drive time left, but could not load until around 8am Friday in Stickney, KS (population 0, until you and the person loading you arrives). I arrived there at about 7:50 am, finding another one of our drivers had spent the night there. I learned there is an outhouse on the place, and he could get a good cellphone signal. Was very peaceful, and quiet. I didn't drive on up here, because I thought those 2 very important requirements were not available. Now I know, so next time I think I'll do the same.

Got loaded with wheat, 82k +, so can't take the "big road" (I-70) to KCMO. Instead wound up taking a State Road 4. Wasn't too bad, just some hills and tight turns, was raining most of the trip. Arrived in KCMO (Hanson-Mueller) at 2:15, finally got unloaded and out of there by 3:30pm. Yes I know, they were extremely busy. Had 4 trucks in front of me, each one only takes less than 2 minutes to dump their loads. They simply can't move faster than molasses in the middle of an arctic winter.

Oh forgot this....Thursday on US-50, just past the Emporia Flyin-J, at the intersection of Americus Road (first one west of the J), I notice a PTL truck on the westbound shoulder, hazard flashers on. No biggie, it's 4-lane. I also see a big-bear stopped at the stop sign. I signal, and change to the middle lane, being courteous. OMG... this bozo, suddenly swings across both WB lanes (one of which I'm in, now traveling at about 55mph loaded), and one EB lane. I thought WTH, and how am I going to get away from him? Well he's doing a u-turn. Am I hard on the brakes? DUH, yep, I mean I'm at least 700-800 ft away when he starts his U-turn. He managed to get out of my way, but what really, really, really, P***D me off, was that stupid-arse trooper. He sat there, watched the whole thing, and done.. NOTHING. I mean, come on, that driver just pulled an unsafe movement, could have, darn near did, cause a major accident. I don't know what PTL hauls, but if he was hauling ice-cream, there would have been Rocky Road flavor everywhere. Perfect opportunity for him to "pick on" a big truck. I wish I wasn't too busy trying to avoid the PTL truck, I would have glanced at the front plate on that trooper's car. It's his Radio and Badge number too. I would have lodged a complaint with his Major or the Colonel of the KHP. The Colonel is the HMFWIIC of the KHP. I'm telling you from years of LEO experience working with these guys, the one thing they fear most, is a ranking officer getting complaints from the motoring public. They will be called on the carpet to answer, and they really do not like getting that call. Well, I had my dashcam rolling, so I have this on video. I may still try to figure out who this clown bear was..

Council Bluffs IA, at the TA. Limped in with an air leak this morning... FIXED. Both air line suspension springs failed (1 broke, and the other slipped off of the not-so-closed eye bolt) and gave the air lines a bad case of road burn. Duct tape to the rescue!
