I run the 65 corridor constantly. 4 times a week usually. Never ever been messed with. Then again I don't speed through no fly zones like a lot of guys do. So maybe the guy is breaking the law and when the cop finds out its a reefer load and the unit is off. It makes his brain click.

Basically make sure that green light stays on(at least with the carrier units, i think they are looking for units with no indicator lites or when that amber warning light is on, i think a lot if it has to do with all the food security regs that homeland security(insecurity?)keeps coming up with.

They aren't targeting big trucks for the most part. It's usually the box trucks with the unit. A lot of Chinese food places. Most of us really have nothing to worry about, and if you're not running what the BOL says, why are you even hauling it?

Cause some of us are hauling mixed temp LTL loads that pay a lot better than the full load crap the bigger fleets want to haul. LMAO Sorry I couldn't resist.

    Ukumfe Thanks this.

I also haul mixed temp loads. On Multitemp trailers. And mixed temp loads on single temp trailers. If the Bol says 0/28 you run it at 0 and put a bulkhead up.... Were you trying to say something, because I think you failed.

I guess you haven't seen my other posts in this thread. It isn't as simple as setting the unit at what the bills say. In a previous post I listed some of the temps on that load. But this weeks I had BOL from 12 different shippers with temps ranging from -5 to 45. Drivers need to learn and understand that just setting the unit at what the BOL says doesn't always work. Just like I've seen BOL stating to run at 34 for leafy veggies...well thats a little to cold and some pallets will get frozen (just like a guy had that exact problem here lately in another thread). Also the -15 or -10 settings are BS for loads other than ice cream. Shippers still use that setting cause it has become habit and a tradition in the industry. But a couple larger reefer carriers have started to change the shippers minds by showing them there is no real difference in temps by running at 0*.

Interesting, you can rely on paperwork that may or may not be accurate. One day that will bite you. I haul produce I really don't care what it says on the BOL's. The buyer always tells me what he wants it set at. When I see the bills are different than what he told me. I call him to re-verify what HE wants.......Were you trying to say something? You failed!!

We haul all kinds of refr. With us the driver is liable if refr is not set at the shipper's designated temps!

Calling the receiver for desired temps puts an immense burden on the driver!

How difficult is this? After you learn a bit about reefer you have an idea as to what runs at what temp. Anything too far out of whack should make you think twice. It's not like one variety of leafy greens runs at 34 and the same product somehow runs today at 40. Some shippers have charts up that say the acceptable range for each product. If you know this you can save some on reefer fuel:biggrin_25519:
